Sharing access to your Widget
This part of the guide is aimed towards people (like you, who are reading this!) who wants to share their Widget layout to their friends, or their team who want to show off their amazing stats!
Sadly, because of the initial restrictions, you are not allowed to freely share this to your friends by just adding your friends to the same server, you need to have the Widget's application in a Developer Team and invite your friends to the Team with the role "Developer" or higher.
⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to this technical restriction, ONLY INVITE your trusted friends to the Developer Team your Application is residing in. People with that role can make big changes to the widget, including changing or deleting the layout. Only share access with people you trust completely.
Before opening the Developer Portal, Discord has one strict rule to protect everyone's hard work: You must have Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled on your Discord account. If you don't, Discord won't let you create or join a team
- Head to Discord Developer Portal.
- On the top-left side of the page, click on the "Teams" button.
- Click on the "New Team" located on the top-left side of the page.
- Insert a name for your team. (e.g "My Shared Widget")
⚠️ NOTE: This transfer process is irreversible! Be sure to know what you are doing before proceeding to transfer your application to a Team!
- Go to the Application that you want to share.
- In the General Information tab, scroll down until you see the "Transfer App to Team" button. Click on it.
- Choose your Team that you want to transfer your Application to.
- Complete the 2FA/MFA request, if Discord requests for one.
⚠️ NOTE: Just like you, your friends must also have 2FA enabled on their personal account to accept the invite. If they don't, Discord will politely block them until they turn it on.
- Head over to your Team.
- Under "Team Members", invite by typing in the Discord username of the person you want to invite.
- Set the "Team Role" from "Read Only" to "Developer"
- Click on the "Invite" button.
- Tell your friend to check the email address that is tied to their Discord account, they will receive an official email from Discord with an invitation link.
- Clicking that link will open up a page asking them to confirm. After confirming, they will be added to your Team.
