Version 0.2.18 improves the Windows workspace and adds a complete user manual.

  • Resize the map sidebar to read longer table names.
  • Close the current BIN and confirm before replacing an open session.
  • Inspect 3D surfaces with axis names, breakpoint labels and physical units.
  • Rotate and reset the 3D preview independently of the main view.
  • Follow the illustrated 19-page user manual for conversion factors, editing, saving and exports.

Detection and stored table orientation are unchanged. This release uses the same application binaries verified during installation and native smoke testing.

Validation: 1,939 tests passed with two existing skips, typecheck passed, detection evaluation passed, and 13 native checks passed on the packaged application and installed copy.

Downloads: Windows x64 setup installer, MSI installer, PDF user manual and SHA-256 checksums. Installers are unsigned and require WebView2 Runtime.

v0.2.17 - axis imports and blue branding

Improves RomRaider axis imports and adds blue BimmerStein desktop branding.

  • Reject partial numeric labels and non-finite axis values, keeping explicit warnings and index fallback instead of misleading breakpoints. Complete decimal and scientific-notation values remain supported.
  • Use the blue BimmerStein logo for the application, setup and uninstaller.
  • Add regression coverage for verified MS41 table layouts and axes. Existing table detection, layout review, axis swapping, editing and export controls remain available.

Corrects table widths and curve addresses in MS41 detection.

  • Prefer a complete neighboring grid header when resolving conflicting byte-width evidence, recovering tables previously absorbed into a wider candidate.
  • Distinguish axis descriptor setup from curve-data reads in full firmware, preventing affected curves from starting two bytes before their data.
  • Preserve existing table-layout review, axis swapping, editing and definition export behavior. Partial files with insufficient width evidence still require a verified definition or manual layout review.

Adds table-layout review in Map properties.

  • Choose Review table layout to compare alternative addresses, dimensions and byte formats, with filters and a preview of the table values.
  • Apply a selected layout in one undoable step. BIN bytes and existing edits are preserved; incompatible axes are disclosed before removal.
  • Automatic detection and validated MS41 full-read and partial-read results remain unchanged.

Improves generic table detection and adds a way to review ambiguous axes.

  • Open Map properties and choose Review detected axes to compare nearby axis pairs and preview their breakpoints. Apply both axes in one undoable step without changing table values.
  • Generic detection uses row-trend evidence to recover additional table boundaries. Exact layouts improve from 121/132 to 124/132 across six synthetic pool references.
  • Validated MS41 full-read and partial-read detection results are preserved.

Improve generic table detection:

  • Preserve row alignment when competing candidates use swapped dimensions.
  • Recover exact starts for gradual word tables using consistent row slopes.
  • Reject more small filler blocks whose scores were inflated by isolated values.
  • Preserve validated MS41 layouts, axes, and both MAF representations.

Across six generic pool test cases, exact layouts improve from 69/132 to
121/132, with 11% fewer false candidates. Some layouts and axis bindings
remain ambiguous; this does not claim exhaustive map recovery.

Verified with 1,907 passing tests, 42 fixture evaluations, 18 holdouts,
12 real-image acceptance checks, and headless Windows checks of detected
tables, transposed editing, saved bytes, and MS41 full/partial exports.
Both Windows installer payloads and bundled resources were verified.

Correct RomRaider exports from fresh MS41 full-read detections:

  • Export table and referenced-axis addresses relative to the calibration image, so the definition imports into its matching partial image.
  • Preserve explicit address-frame choices and existing imported-project behavior.
  • Retain map values, scaling, axes, and both MAF representations.

Verified with 1,899 passing tests, 42 fixture evaluations, 18 holdouts,
12 real-image acceptance cases, and 17 headless Windows check groups across
eight full/partial image pairs. Both Windows installer payloads and bundled
resources were verified.

Improve RomRaider definition imports:

  • Accept a scalar's single static Value label without a spurious axis warning.
  • Preserve imported values, addresses, scaling, axes and descriptions.
  • Keep diagnostics for malformed axes, unsupported text labels and non-affine scaling.
  • Add regression coverage for inherited gain/address corrections and descendant omissions.

Verified with 1,857 passing tests, 42 fixture evaluations, 18 holdouts,
12 real-image acceptance cases and 43 headless Windows checks. Both Windows
installer payloads and their bundled resources were verified.

Correct MS41 axis selection using firmware caller evidence:

  • Open-loop enrichment retains its staged RPM axis across intervening helper calls.
  • Alpha-N throttle tables use the matching byte TPS axis while retaining their detected dimensions.
  • Conflicting or incomplete caller evidence cannot promote a fallback table to a proven result.

Both MAF voltage views and existing editing, undo/redo, checksum and project workflows remain available.

Verified with 1,846 tests, 42 fixture evaluations, 18 holdouts, 12 real-image acceptance cases and headless Windows editing/save checks. Coverage against matching references is a measurement, not a claim that every firmware map is known.

v0.2.9 - MAF detection and axes

Fix MS41 MAF detection and preserve both calibration views.

  • Prevent false table headers inside word data from selecting the wrong cell width.
  • Display indices for constant detected grid axes while preserving intentionally constant curve axes.
  • Preserve both 256-point MAF curves and 16×16 voltage grids, including their shared edits and static voltage labels.

MAF word detection now matches all ten tested full/partial views across five ID42/ID59 ROMs, up from nine. Two overlapping false detections inside the affected MAF data are removed. Other layouts in that corpus remain unchanged.

Validation: 1,842 passing tests, zero typecheck errors or warnings, 42 passing fixture evaluations, 18 holdouts, and 12 real-image acceptance checks. Headless native checks cover all ten file views, both MAF representations, twenty word edits, exact saved bytes, checksums and project reopening. Windows x64 installers and SHA-256 checksums are attached.
