Helmet-mounted HUD for motorcyclists. Shows turn-by-turn nav and indicator alerts so you don't have to look down at your phone.
Started this after nearly missing a turn while lane-splitting - decided I needed directions in my line of sight. What began as a simple indicator broadcaster grew into a full display system with custom PCBs.
Two modules:
- Brain Module - ATmega32U2, GPS, BLE. Mounts on the bike.
- Display Module - LCD + BLE receiver. Clips to helmet.
Communication is wireless so you're not tethered to the bike. Battery life is about 4 hours on the display, full day on the brain module.
First time designing a PCB from scratch. Made plenty of mistakes - the first revision had the UART pins swapped. Also underestimated how much vibration affects component placement on a motorcycle.
