What changed

• Free to share. You may now give the VoxyScribe installer to anyone, free of charge, unmodified: on a website, a network drive, or a USB stick. Selling it or sharing a modified copy still isn't allowed. The installer shows the full license.
• Only one copy runs at a time. Starting VoxyScribe while it's already running opens its Settings instead of a second copy, which would have typed everything twice.

VoxyScribe 1.8.2

What changed

• A smaller VoxyScribe. Speech has been NVIDIA Parakeet only for a while; the unused Whisper engine and Voxtral cloud code are now gone. The installer is 67 MB instead of 74 MB, and the installed app takes about 100 MB less space.
• Nothing changes in how VoxyScribe works. Old Whisper and Voxtral settings are dropped from your settings file the next time it saves.

What changed

• Updates restart VoxyScribe. It closes so the installer can replace its files; it now opens again when the install finishes. This already applies to the update to 1.8.1.
• Update checks while it runs. VoxyScribe checked only when it started, so a copy left in the tray for days never looked. It now checks once a day while running.
• The VoxyScribe wordmark heads the Settings sidebar.

• Meeting transcripts are gone. They recorded only what your PC played, so your own side of a call was missing, and the text came out as one block with no speakers or times. To transcribe a recording, use Transcribe Audio File from the tray menu: it gives paragraphs with times and, if you like, who is speaking.

VoxyScribe 1.7.0

What's new

• Better audio file transcripts. Choose where the transcript is saved, follow the progress on the tray icon (hover for the percentage), cancel from the tray menu, and open the folder when it's done. Paragraphs are stamped with their times and tidied like dictation.
• Who is speaking (optional). Turn on speaker labels to mark each paragraph with its speaker. VoxyScribe finds how many people speak; name them afterward and their voices are recognized next time, and yours is learned from your dictation. It takes about 1.7 times as long as text only, and downloads a 26 MB model the first time.
• Type as I talk. In hands-free mode, each phrase is typed at the pause after it instead of waiting until you stop.
• About page in Settings: the version, updates, the license, and third-party notices.

Fixes

• A pause in the middle of a sentence no longer capitalizes the next word, in dictation and in files.
• A word you restart ("split up by By a speaker change") is no longer doubled.
• A model download that stalls starts over instead of waiting forever.

VoxyScribe 1.6.0

What's new

• Parakeet speech recognition. Faster, more accurate English dictation, done on your PC. The first start downloads the speech model (about 660 MB); the listening bar shows the progress.
• Live preview. The words appear under the listening bar while you talk.
• A dictionary that learns. Add names and terms on the Dictionary page. If VoxyScribe gets a word wrong, fix it in the text, select it, and press Ctrl+Shift+L to teach it.
• New look. Windows 11 style, light and dark themes, and six styles for the listening bar: Scrolling, Pulse, Ripple, Spectrum, Wave, and Glow.
• Other apps go quiet while you dictate (you can turn this off).
• Transcribe audio files and meetings to text from the tray menu, on your PC.
• Per-app output. Choose paste, typing, or clipboard for each app.
• Start and stop sounds, and pressing another key with the hotkey cancels a dictation.
• Safer updates. VoxyScribe checks each download against the SHA-256 listed here before installing it.
