Adds a Mute badge, and fixes persistent badges disappearing after a few minutes.

New

  • Mute badge — a fourth indicator, for the Windows master mute state, with the
same independent controls as the lock keys. Defaults to red MUTED and to
stay visible until toggled off. The volume flyout tells you mute changed, then
vanishes; this tells you it is still on.
  • Mute reacts to any source — a media key, the volume flyout, Teams, or any
application. The lock badges only ever change when you press their key.
  • Settings now has six tabs: Caps, Num, Scroll, Mute, General, About.

Fixed

  • Badges set to stay visible until toggled off could disappear after several
minutes and not return until the key was toggled twice. The poll loop only
reacted to state changes, so nothing re-checked a badge meant to sit there
indefinitely — a screensaver, display sleep, a session lock, or a shell window
rising above ours could hide or bury it. A watchdog now re-asserts persistent
    badges about once a second.
  • Flash time is disabled while Behavior is set to stay visible, since nothing
    reads it in that mode.

Changed

  • Badge state is read through one ReadLockState() function. Caps, Num and Scroll
are keyboard toggle bits; Mute is a property of the Windows audio endpoint via
    SoundGetMute().
  • Documentation, UI text and code comments standardized to American English.

Install

Requires AutoHotkey v2https://www.autohotkey.com/ — v2 specifically, not v1.1.

Download LockBadges.ahk below and put it somewhere permanent.
C:\Program Files\LockBadges\ is recommended. Avoid Desktop, Downloads, or any
OneDrive-synced folder: this script runs at every login, so it should live where
your ordinary user account cannot rewrite it.

Upgrading from v1.5.2

Replace the .ahk file and restart it from the tray. Your existing
%APPDATA%\LockBadges\config.ini carries over, and a [Mute] section is created
with defaults on first run.
