Project Team Meetings

October 9th, 2021

Meeting Agenda:

  • Project Part 2 deliverables
    • Product Backlog
      • Mathew: whatcha got so far?
      • Walk through existing user stories
      • Are there any user stories that don’t yet have story points?
      • Are there any user stories that could use more story points?
        • Once above is done, consensus on risk
      • Next steps: migrate to GitHub Projects
      • Anybody else want to hop on?
      • Other comments?
    • User Interface Mockups and Storyboard Sequences
      • What exactly is the difference between mockup and storyboard? Is a mockup just like one type of screen, and the storyboard is the whole thing with the arrows?
      • Eric: whatcha got so far?
      • All user stories are covered in some shape or form right now
      • Need to add transitions -- like the actual entry of login, camera dialog, etc
      • Need to add comments to prove requirements are covered
      • Once done, upload to GitHub Wiki
      • Anybody want things changed with design? I think the layouts would work good with ListViews and a custom ArrayAdapter like we did for Assignment 1
      • Anybody else want to hop on?
      • Other comments?
    • Object oriented analysis?
      • Jesse: whatcha got so far?
      • One class to add: the custom ArrayAdapter for user habit events
      • Walk through each CRC card
      • Do we need to differentiate between the three types (entity, control, boundary?)
      • Are all story points covered? Consensus?
      • Next steps: migrate to GitHub Projects
      • Anybody else want to hop on?
      • Other comments?
  • Take a peek ahead at the future project parts to see if that alters our deliverables a little
  • UML diagram: why not start one? It doesn’t need to be finished, but could help us structure things. Anybody dibs?
  • Would we be able to finish our pieces up by Monday night/Tuesday morning? So we can send to Akalanka for review Tuesday, and then we can discuss with him Wednesday night at our next lab, and then still have time to make necessary changes by the Friday due date?

Meeting notes:

  • Halfway point: something that we can display
    • Have habits working
    • Have user working -- but no user interactions
    • Firebase will make it awkward otherwise
      • Events come later
  • Look into Java geolocation tools -- Firestore makes it easy to store longitude/latitude, but we might want to store Street Address, City, etc. as well as custom nickname
  • Leah will make the Backlog items for our halfway point as needed for the deliverable
  • Today view: either a checkmark or an x
  • And then on the list view, maybe then we’d have progress
  • Double check what they mean by “progress” -- is it a yes or no? Or it is a percentage meeted by end of week?
  • Make column in backlog for “optional bonuses”
  • Discovery/search for followers -- Firestore feature for user ID
    • Name Firestore documents by ID
    • Search by name**
  • Moe and Arthur will help tackle the storyboard
  • Where to put Android-relevant stuff? For example, an Activity class -- does that go in a CRC Card? UML diagram? One or the other, or both?
  • Arthur will start a draft UML diagram
  • Leah will start on a database design

-activities, custom adapters, fragments, anything custom for your app basically need CRC cards/UML diagram implementation (need all 3 blocks, but can be blank)

-story points, risk level

October 14th, 2021

Meeting notes:

  • Mathew is building up the frames and setting up the overall project structure before group can branch out and start working on individual things
  • This includes minor layout features, but won’t be operational -- just for looks
  • Eric is setting up the navigation bar so that navigation between frames is possible
  • Once these fundamentals are done, the project is ready to hit the ground running with
  • Other teams members were encouraged to research the functionality for parts of the project they’re interested in
    • As well, get familiar with GitHub tools to be able to functionally push/pull/merge changes

October 24th, 2021

  • Eric finished the navigation bar ground work this past week
  • Delegated tasks pertinent to user stories
  • Every user story related to
    • Habit Events -> delegated to Jesse and Moe
    • Habits -> Mathew, Arthur, and Eric
      • Add Habit frame -> Arthur
      • Habit Details frame -> Eric
      • Everything in between related to Habits -> Mathew
    • User Page -> Leah
  • Additionally, initial Firestore tasks were assigned to Leah as she has had prior experience working with it
  • Discussed good practice for using Intents between Activities
  • Specific User Stories were assigned on the GitHub Projects board

October 31st, 2021

  • Went over finalization process for project deadline upcoming
  • Most of assigned tasks from last week completed, just tidying some minor details up as new information from assignment description arrives
  • Lots of communication over small details that required collaboration
  • For example:
    • Firestore setup with Habit Events
    • Log In/Sign Up testing
    • Other app bugs/unexpected functionality
  • Planning for big merge of all pull requests starting this week, and throughout the week to continue this project to bring newly developed features into main branch
  • Testing to begin this week, with the writing of Intent and Unit testing
  • UML diagram to be created this week
    • Assignments to these tasks documented on GitHub
  • Updates soon to come from TA based on project part 2, will make changes this week as necessary

November 7th, 2021

  • Reading Week break, enjoyed some rest. Some small work was done here and there just to experiment with new features, like implementing the camera functionality, profile photos, etc. (thanks Mathew!)

November 17th, 2021

Meeting Agenda:

  • Since we were having our demo with our TA during this time frame, we decided to move our weekly sprint meeting to tonight to reorganize the team's goals for the last project part.
  • A list of remaining tasks has been created, see issue #91 on GitHub for full list. Will transfer these tasks to our GitHub Project boards this upcoming week as well. Tasks have been initially delegated to team members and we plan on crossing paths this week for help in implementation.
    • Each team member is generally responsible for tidying up the UI of the frames they worked on in the last project part, to make it resemble more closely to our storyboard mockup (eg. Arthur worked on the Add Habit frame, thus will tidy up the UI for said frame, Eric did Habit Details, etc.)
    • There are some bug fixes here and there around the application
    • As for new tasks, a quick overview:
      • Images for HabitEvents -> Jesse
      • General camera functionality -> Mathew
      • Geolocation for HabitEvents -> Leah
      • Habit progress indicator -> Arthur and Mathew
      • Social feed frame -> Eric (with help from Leah for Firestore)
      • Notifications -> Arthur
      • "Add friend" functionality for user followers/following -> Moe
  • Take a look at the issue for more specific details as to who is doing what as per this meeting.

November 24th, 2021 Meeting Agenda:

  • Go over feedback from prior project part with TA.
  • Status update on team members -- where is everybody at?
    • Mathew -> lots of work done on location features
    • Leah -> lots of work done on image features w/ Firestore
    • Moe -> complete overhaul of UI to align with storyboard
    • Jesse -> tailoring habit events and how they display in various frames
    • Eric -> some UI changes and started work on social feed
    • Arthur -> started work on Notifications
      • more from everybody
  • Just keep on keeping on until deadline!

  • Progress bar implementation
  • Notifications implementation
  • Feed bug fixes
  • Followers/following implementation

Final merges incoming!
