v4.0.0
GoLocal Milestone Four
This release focuses on wrapping up the frontend and providing functionality to all components that we had added in the skeleton of the frontend.
- A
/postsroute was added to the frontend. This post route dynamically lists and shows all of the posts that are currently in the database. It has the comment of the post itself, a timestamp, and a post Id attached to it. - The
/profileroute was fully implemented. This profile route allows a user to set their preferences and edit any information they want too about their profile. - Functionality to the search bar was added. There is now a search bar where a user can input a query and then toggle between
users, posts, andbusinessesfor what they want to search for. - The
/companyroute was fully finished. Now when you go to this route, it lists all businesses that are in the database for users to find.
Notes
- To implement the search bar, a backend route was created. This route is inside of the
backend/app/routers/search.pydir. This made it easier for completing the frontend side of that task. - Originally we were going to use a Google Maps API to only show companies that are nearby the user. This was beyond our skill set and provided to be a very challenging task so it had to be dropped. Now in the
/companyroute, it just lists all businesses that are in the database dynamically.

GoLocal Milestone Three
This release focuses on the projects frontend and getting overall structure for that complete
- A profile page was created for the user. This is so the user can edit and see what is on their current profile. The user is able to see this by using the link in the navigation bar where it says
profileand this will take them to the/profilefrontend route. - A login/signup was created for the user. This is the first page of our application. When a user visits our site, this will be the first page they see. If they have an account, they can login. If they do not have an account, they can click that on the bottom blue link and it will change them to the signup page. These are on their own routes of
/loginand/signup. - Protected routes were added to make sure that a user is only on their own page and cannot edit anyone else. If a user is not signed in, or if they do not have an account, they will be stuck on the
/loginor/signuppage until they do have an account. - A navigation bar was created and is currently shown on the home page. This navigation bar has our logo (when clicked will take them to the
/loginroute), a search bar (without functionality right now), a posts tab (which will take them to the/postsroute), a businesses tab (when clicked will take them to the/businessesroute), a profile tab (which will take them to the/profileroute), and a sign out button for them to logout.
Notes
- This release focused on getting the structure of the project for the frontend done.
- So far the only fully functional parts to this are the login, signup, and navigation bar.
- Everything else has been structured and ready to be implemented. This includes the
/posts,/profile, and/businessesroute. - Currently Huda has a pull request open for showing the user profile inside of the
/profileroute. So by the time you are reading this, it may be merged in and complete. - The restricted routes help with safety insuring that everyone is on their own personal account and so that they cannot access other peoples data.

v2.0.0
GoLocal Milestone Two
This release focuses on the project backend and getting models/routes created
- Database models were created for Users, Companies, Reviews, and Posts. These models were created with
flask_sqlalchemyinside of an sqlite database. - API routes were created for these different database models. The routes created for the different database models include
/list/,/create/,/update/, and/delete/. - Test files were created for all of these routes and models. They test any possible thing that we think could go wrong with the routes including missing fields for example.
Notes:
- This release gets most of our backend complete. With all of the database models created and the routes for each of them, we now have a built out API that we can use in the frontend for Milestone Three.
- Using GitHub Actions, testing is now automated. Whenever a pull request is opened, the tests will automatically be ran and notify the creator of the pull request if they fail.
- Restrictions were put on the main branch to make it more secure and make sure that unwanted pushes to the main branch do not occur.
The rest of the release notes were generated using configuration in .github/release.yml at main
