Bug description
After updating linux-cachyos to version 7.1.2-2 (build date 2026-06-29), the built-in
keyboard, trackpad, and Touch Bar stopped working immediately after reboot.
No drivers were manually installed — everything worked out of the box since
initial CachyOS install (2025-06-10).
Booting into linux-cachyos-lts (6.18.37-1) restores full functionality of
keyboard, trackpad, and Touch Bar without any changes.
Workaround:
Booting linux-cachyos-lts resolves the issue completely.
Happy to provide any additional debug info needed.
Steps to reproduce
- Boot into
linux-cachyos 7.1.2-2 on a T2 MacBook Pro 13" 2020
- Observe that internal keyboard, trackpad, and Touch Bar are not detected
Expected behavior
Internal keyboard, trackpad, and Touch Bar should be detected and functional,
as they were prior to this kernel update.
Actual behavior
None of the T2 internal input devices (keyboard, trackpad, Touch Bar) are
detected. Only externally connected USB peripherals work.
Logs / stack traces
cachyos-bugreport.log
dmesg-lts-working.log
journalctl-list-boots.txt
lshw-output.txt
kernel-config-apple.txt
pkg-info.txt
apple-related.log
kernel-broken-boot.log
- `kernel-broken-boot.log` — full dmesg/journalctl -k from the broken boot
- `apple-related.log` — filtered apple/spi/hid related log lines
- `pkg-info.txt` — linux-cachyos package info
- `dmesg-lts-working.log` — dmesg from working LTS boot for comparison
- `lshw-output.txt` — full hardware listing
- `cachyos-bugreport.log` — cachyos-bugreport log
Additional system information
- OS: CachyOS (rolling)
- Broken kernel: linux-cachyos 7.1.2-2-cachyos
- Working kernel: linux-cachyos-lts (6.18.37-1)
- Bootloader: systemd-boot
