Release list
v1.6.0
AI Docker CLI Manager v1.6.0
This release makes updates reliable and visible, protects container-only work before rebuilds, and adds status, cleanup and editable resource limits.
What's changed
- Reliable updates: fixes Python updates, records attempts/checks/updates separately, prevents overlapping runs, preserves pinned npm packages and checks tool health after updating. Overdue updates catch up in the background after startup.
- Clear status:
ai-docker statusand a login summary report tool health, update results, disk use, actual container RAM usage and resource limits. Missing optional folders are labelled clearly. - Rescue before destructive operations: setup and uninstall scan work outside persistent storage and offer verified rescue copies into
AI_Work\_rescued. Scan/copy failures stop deletion. Rescued repositories and links are checked for independence from discarded storage. - Conservative cleanup:
ai-docker cleanuppreviews estimated savings.--applyasks before removing tool-managed caches and old tool versions, rechecking versions in use. Clones, virtualenvs and scratch dependency folders are report-only. - Resources without rebuilding: the launcher's Resources... button applies and saves container RAM/CPU limits without rebuilding or restarting it. Setup preserves existing settings and displays the resulting limits.
- Startup and memory fixes: targeted ownership repair, WSL memory-reclaim configuration, container restart policy and clear degraded health when some tool installs fail.
Download and upgrade
Download AI_Docker_Manager.exe for the stable filename, or AI_Docker_Manager_v1.6.0.exe to archive this version. Both assets contain the same executable; SHA256 checksum files are provided.
Existing installations need an image upgrade to receive all container changes. Keep an independent copy of important container-only work before rebuilding, and review the rescue prompt. Changing RAM/CPU limits alone needs no image rebuild. WSL's overall memory ceiling is separate from the container's limit; changing that ceiling requires restarting WSL/Docker after saving work.
Validation and remaining coverage
All seven CI checks passed on the final PR, including Bash suites, ShellCheck, Windows PowerShell 5.1 and PowerShell 7, Docker smoke and real EXE startup under Restricted execution policy. The release workflow also builds, verifies the EXE's version, smoke-tests it and produces checksums before publishing.
Manually confirmed on an existing Windows installation: startup/status, resource editing, rescue copies with verification and cleanup preview. The full manual Windows fresh-install, uninstall, destructive-rebuild, offline/degraded-start and reboot acceptance scenarios have not all been completed. This release is published with that validation limitation.
Freeing space inside Linux does not immediately shrink Docker's Windows disk file. See the CLI guide and changelog for details.
Requirements
Windows 10/11 with WSL2 and Docker Desktop.
