Getting Started

Swaggia is not completely linear, but The Occlusion is the main route into its larger progression systems.

Build an Occlusion portal

1. Put ordinary Stone through a Stonecutter to make Runic Stone Bricks.
2. Build a vertical portal frame from Runic Stone Bricks. It follows Nether-portal proportions: the interior must be at least 2 blocks wide and 3 blocks tall.
3. Craft an Accursed Apple from one Golden Apple and one Ender Pearl.
4. Use the Accursed Apple on the completed frame.

Activation converts the frame to Activated Runic Stone Bricks, fills it with portal blocks, and consumes the apple unless the player is in Creative mode. Larger frames are supported, up to a 21-by-21 interior.

First-trip checklist

• Bring ordinary food, armor, tools, blocks, and light sources.
• Travel at lower elevations until you understand the Occlusion's daytime hazard.
• Collect Sundered Rock, Occluded Gems, Occlusia Majalis, Oblong Reeds, and the colored gem types you encounter.
• Search ruins and watchtowers before attempting the major structures.
• Carry Glass Bottles if fog is active; right-clicking the air collects Bottled Fog.

Early progression

Gem Cutting Table

The Gem Cutting Table accepts Ruby, Amber, Sapphire, and Amethyst Shards. A cut costs one XP level and gives the gem a quality score. Cut gems power a Gemhancer. See Gemhancing.

Nanoweave

Four Oblong Reeds and Redstone craft Nanoweave. It is used in the Runic Translator and several advanced devices.

Runic Translator

The Runic Translator records the transmissions a player has personally received. Use it to reopen the archive, with the newest transmission at the top. New transmissions still appear normally even when the translator is not being held.

Exploration rewards

• Occluded Watchtowers emphasize archives, navigation supplies, gems, and occult research items.
• The Secret Labyrinth emphasizes salvage, equipment, valuables, food, and its own encounter progression.
• Prismalyte Arenas contain the mod's end-game boss sequence.
