The first full release of media_to_frames, a Python-based media converter designed for ESP32 and ESP8266 display projects. This version transforms both .gif and .mp4 files into microcontroller-friendly frame sets, ready for use with SPIFFS, LittleFS, or SD-based animation playback.

Highlights:

🎞️ GIF and MP4 support — Converts videos to frame sequences using Pillow and MoviePy.

🖼️ Automatic resizing & quantization — Scales to your display’s resolution with color depth optimization.

🧠 Smart file handling — Creates and manages input_gifs/, input_mp4s/, and output_frames/ directories automatically.

🧪 Built-in test case — Runs GIF_TO_FRAME_TEST_CASE.gif to verify full conversion flow and data integrity.

⚙️ Command-line controls — Adjustable output size (--size 240x240) and cleanup options (--no-cleanup).

🧩 MoviePy 2.2.1 compatibility — Updated imports (from moviepy import VideoFileClip) to avoid deprecated editor calls.

This release marks a clean, stable foundation for adding new features such as PNG output, progress visualization, and frame previews.

Installation:

pip install pillow moviepy
python media_to_frames.py

Known Caveats:

Large MP4s may consume significant RAM during conversion — trim or reduce FPS before processing.

ESP8266 memory constraints may require smaller frame sizes (≤128×128).
