We are excited to announce this new version of our installation script, representing a significant step forward in usability and reach!

The main feature of this version is universal support for the most common Linux system families:

  1. Debian-based distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, Linux Mint, MX Linux, etc.)
  2. Arch-based distributions (e.g., Manjaro, EndeavourOS, Garuda Linux, etc.)

What does this mean for you?
You can now use the same script to seamlessly install WBS LearnSpace 3D on a wider range of Linux systems. The script automatically detects the underlying distribution and uses the appropriate package managers (apt or pacman) and system-specific configurations.

Key improvements enabling this universality:

  1. Automatic detection of the package manager (apt for Debian-based, pacman for Arch-based systems).
  2. Conditional logic for system-specific adjustments (e.g., the prime-run query, which is only relevant on systems with appropriate hardware/software).
  3. Unified installation and configuration steps for the core application.
  4. We hope this update simplifies the installation for an even larger number of Linux users. Feedback is always welcome!
