[BUG] Copy-pasting images AND clips is broken

After I copy-pasted an image, the regular clipboard broke and I could not copy a clip.

Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Oddly, this only happened once. I opened a new tab to record a screenshot for demo, but it didn't paste the image and instead pasted the clip. And then I couldn't copy the image from my source again, it just kept pasting the clip. Later I went back and tried a different image (no reloads in between, no new tabs either) and I couldn't copy the image from the editor, and THEN the editor's native copy/paste buttons on the toolbar were not working.

Expected behavior:
Wick clipboard functions as normal, i.e. image copy/pasting is integrated into the original clipboard system

Editor version:
Candlestick 1.0.2

Device and browser

• Lenovo IdeaCentre AIO desktop
• Windows 11
• Chrome

I'd say that this would require integrating images as a Wick.Clipboard type.

We pushed an update to candlestickers.app/test pretty recently, could you check that? I think it's been fixed on the test editor already, as well as an issue with the color picker preview.

Assuming no one reports the bugs as unfixed, we're planning to deploy it to the main editor about half a day.

Tried the test editor on Edge, seems fine. Though ofc we should remember that idk how to reproduce the bug.. 😅

New settings option has been added to switch between the wick clipboard and the wick + device clipboard, and has been defaulted to the wick clipboard.
We've fixed most of the bugs in regards to the device clipboard but most of it goes back to the browser clipboard permission settings and how browsers choose to handle that. As we can't account for all browsers, we've made sure to at least make the clipboard setting functional for most, and decided to make it a setting option for people to pick based on preference.
The wick clipboard, the default option, should be fully functional as it's the same as the older clipboard setting prior to the update.
That said, feel free to try again the device clipboard option as it may more likely work well after the previous fixes, depending on your browser and OS, and if it's buggy in any way you can easily switch back to the wick clipboard option.

This seems to be a problem which Scratch 3 also has on Chrome, pressing CTRL + V or C seems to be an action which requires some care to make it work.

Tried it, worked great first try, but then I copied an image AND a clip (in wick) and it only pasted the clip. Then I copied from Gmail again a few times in new Candlestick tabs but it didn't paste, just pasted the clip even though it was set to device clipboard. Then I tried with a different image (also from Gmail) and that pasted fine. I think it's a problem of my pc not knowing that there's a clip in clipboard but it knows that there's an image in clipboard so I can't copy again.

Behind the system here's how it works—
The wick editor clipboard and the device clipboard are two separate clipboards, and there's no good way which one the user copied last when time comes that they paste.
So we have what we call a stale value for the device clipboard… to put it simply, when you try to copy a wick object, we read what's currently in the device clipboard and mark it as old data. When time comes to paste, if the user copies something else from their device and we see it's not the old data, then we paste that in, but if we see that it's still the "old data" then we go with the Wick clipboard instead.

In your case, you copied the image, then tried copying a wick object so the clipboard data was marked as "old data." It's still on your device's clipboard, nothing changed. When you re-copied the same old data, it was still ignored. But when you copied a new image and pasted that in it worked.
It's a little bit of an odd situation— the only real good way to have the clipboard functional 100% without this entire process would be to overwrite the user's own clipboard with the wick object's data and read from the device's clipboard always— it would only mean that the user loses access to what's currently in their clipboard.
