Carafe 0.1.0, the first open-source release.

Carafe keeps your AI coding sessions on your own machine. It records every Claude Code and Codex session, lets you search and replay them, and hands a session off to any agent that can read a file: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Devin, and the rest. Nothing leaves your machine.

Install

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Carafehq/carafe/main/install.sh | sh
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"
carafe list

macOS (arm64, x64) and Linux (x64, arm64, musl, baseline). The installer verifies checksums. No account or token needed.

macOS menu bar app: download Carafe-0.1.0.zip below, unzip, and open Carafe. It's signed and notarized by Apple.

What's in it

  • Local capture, search and replay for Claude Code and Codex sessions.
  • Deterministic, secret-redacted handoffs to any agent, with source references instead of LLM summaries.
  • The /carafe skill for Claude Code and prompt for Codex (carafe skills install).
  • Live terminal switching between agents (carafe start), with encrypted handoff archives.
  • Local browser UI (carafe ui), checkpoints and undo, optional prompt-reflex hooks.
  • Standalone binaries with verified updates (carafe update).

See the README for the full guide.
