Aura Companion Preview

This release adds the first working version of Aura Companion, a phone based companion surface for Aura Desktop.

Aura can now pair with a phone through a hosted relay, then receive chat messages from the phone and stream the desktop response back to the mobile web app.

This is an early preview, but the core loop is working:

  • Pair your phone with Aura Desktop using a QR code
  • Connect through the hosted Aura Companion relay
  • Send chat messages from your phone
  • Receive Aura Desktop responses back on the phone
  • Keep the desktop app as the main brain while the phone acts as a remote command surface

Why this matters

This is the first step toward making Aura usable from more than just the desktop window.

The goal is simple: Aura Desktop remains the local workspace and orchestration engine, while Aura Companion becomes a lightweight remote control surface for chat, project context, runs, receipts, and future workflow controls.

Companion Preview notes

Aura Companion is currently focused on phone to desktop chat.

Projects, Runs, and History surfaces are still in progress. They may appear in the phone UI, but the fully interactive versions are coming in a future release.

For best results:

  1. Launch Aura Desktop
  2. Open or create a normal desktop conversation
  3. Enable Companion in Settings
  4. Scan the QR code with your phone
  5. Send a message from the phone

Also included

  • Live Companion settings apply without needing to close and reopen Settings
  • Companion starts disabled on launch for safer default behavior
  • Improved desktop relay connection error reporting
  • Auto-pair QR flow when Companion connects
  • Better phone chat routing so errors return to the phone instead of leaving the UI stuck

Known limitations

  • Companion is a preview feature
  • The phone Projects tab is not fully wired yet
  • Selecting projects and old conversations from the phone is still being polished
  • Aura Desktop must be running and connected for the phone app to work

Summary

Aura now has a working mobile companion path.

It is early, but the core architecture is alive.
