RDX v0.4.0
RDX v0.4.0 (alpha) expands native Java reconstruction, archive support, manifest summaries, and MCP analysis tools.
Changes
- Open XAPK and APKS archives with validated base/split analysis. Native file-picker reentrancy is guarded to prevent crashes.
- Reconstruct more constructor, allocation, loop, exception, enum, and coroutine patterns. Constructor argument blocks preserve allocation, initialization, branch effects, and exception order; unsupported methods retain explicit DEX fallbacks.
- Read rendered manifest summaries with application metadata, exported components, permissions, and declared deep links. Export Markdown and identify exported components through full-row highlighting.
- Browse annotation metadata, fold Kotlin metadata on nested classes, and read shorter imported type names with collision-aware qualification. Source navigation and search cancellation/recovery receive fixes.
- Use the 19-tool MCP surface with implementation lookup, bounded source search, instance filters, manifest summaries, and ancestor dispatch guidance. Static dispatch suggestions distinguish possible entry points from observed call edges.
Validation and scope
The measured Android corpus contains 130,576 concrete methods: 124,225 reconstruct to Java (95.14%), with 6,351 explicit fallbacks. This measures renderer acceptance on that corpus; it does not establish semantic equivalence for every APK. The final coverage increment gained 204 methods with zero accepted-to-fallback changes against its preceding checkpoint.
Local verification included 340 library tests, 98 focused tests, additional JVM checks of values, effect order and exception identity, formatting, lint, and a release build. Published archives are built and tested by the release workflow on each supported platform.

Requirements and limits
Prebuilt apps require no Rust, Java, Python, or Android SDK. Supported systems are macOS 13+, Windows 10+ x64, and Linux x64 with glibc 2.35+ and a graphical desktop. Linux needs OpenGL and X11 or Wayland libraries; the file picker uses a desktop portal.
macOS builds are ad-hoc signed and Windows builds are unsigned. See the installation guide, engine limitations, and MCP documentation.
RDX v0.3.0
RDX v0.3.0 (alpha) introduces a refreshed desktop interface and expands native Java reconstruction.
Changes
- Refreshed light and dark UI, compact source tabs, app icon, and Android robot for DEX bytecode. Existing syntax themes and preferences remain supported.
- Optional auto-hide for tabs and the top menu, with saved preferences. The menu is visible by default; full class names appear on tab hover.
- Open an independent RDX instance from the app icon or File → New instance.
- Labelled MCP status indicator: green when active, gray when inactive, with quick access to server controls.
- Expanded native reconstruction of control flow, allocations, constructors, and supported loop patterns. Unsupported methods still show explicitly labelled DEX disassembly.
- Syntax highlighting remains enabled for very long lines.

macOS builds are ad-hoc signed, not notarized. Windows builds are unsigned and use the static MSVC runtime. First launch may require OS approval. See the installation guide.
The native decompiler remains alpha. Reconstruction coverage is not a guarantee of semantic accuracy or compatibility with every APK. Call graphs represent static DEX calls, not runtime traces. See engine limitations and MCP documentation.
RDX v0.2.1
RDX v0.2.1 (alpha) adds method call graphs and improves Java reconstruction and navigation.
Changes
- Independent call-graph window with circular shaded nodes, pan/zoom, and highlighted paths to Android components. Default depth is 20, configurable up to 100.
- MCP
get_call_graphwith caller, callee, and bidirectional traversal, inherited-method alias resolution, structured nodes/edges and explicit limits. - X-Refs prefer Java for unambiguous call locations; exact DEX remains available for ambiguous mappings.
- Java reconstruction now handles additional quiet-NaN constants and wide values in supported try/catch patterns.
Graphs describe static DEX calls, not runtime traces. Reflection, Intent routing and runtime virtual dispatch are not inferred. The GUI follows outgoing calls; caller/both direction selection is available through MCP.

Requirements and known limits
No Java, Python, Rust or Android SDK is needed for the prebuilt apps.
macOS 13+, Windows 10+ x64, or Linux x64 with glibc 2.35+ and a graphical desktop
are required. Linux needs OpenGL/X11 or Wayland libraries and a desktop portal
for the file picker. Windows uses the static MSVC runtime.
macOS builds are ad-hoc signed but not notarized; Windows builds are unsigned.
First launch may require OS approval. See the installation guide
for platform instructions and MCP setup.
The native engine remains alpha: reconstruction coverage is incomplete and
unsupported methods are displayed as DEX disassembly. This is not a claim of
100% semantic accuracy. MCP's current tool set is documented here.
RDX v0.1.0
First packaged RDX release (alpha): a native Rust APK/DEX decompiler for macOS, Windows and Linux.
Included
- Java reconstruction with explicit DEX fallback for unsupported methods.
- Code/resource search, declaration navigation, usages, callers/callees, subclasses and implementations.
- Decoded manifests/XML, resource resolution, exported-component highlighting and asset previews.
- Light/dark themes, bundled fonts, tabs/bookmarks and Frida snippet copying.
- Local native MCP server, GUI controls and isolated projects for parallel agents.
