Only you and family members you designate in your FamilyDAO can add or update records in your family tree detailing births, deaths, graduations, marriages, divorces and other significant events. You may designate trusted or professional associates to help administer your FamilyDAO. Together, you can add important supporting documents and records of any nature (legal or medical, for example); chat or broadcast sharing personal news read only with family and designated friends; and, vote privately to make decisions on important family matters including administration of the FamilyDAO collectively. You can define rules for weighting and voting roles within your family, as well as rules for creating and assigning rules for weighting and voting roles, as you may choose. Zero-knowledge proofs may be useful for verifying voting results while respecting privacy.

A preliminary US Patent Public Search reveals no patented ideas related to a useful method for decentralizing stored genogram data privately and securely using computers.
The current proposal aims to elicit requirements for FamilyDAO features and functionality from a multicultural sample of individuals and family offices; prepare additional product and project management planning documents; and, network to assemble resources capable of developing and implementing FamilyDAO sustainably as an open-source, decentralized software application development project that facilitates studying, changing and improving the design transparently.
FamilyDAO aims to offer a secure, private and easy-to-use platform helping to honour generations of families, human connections and social networks without centralized data storage on servers controlled by technology companies, for example to train artificial intelligence tools.
The expected outcome is FamilyDAO organically becoming a sustainable, mainstream and everyday tool—not an extractive algorithm—for the general public.
