1.0.2.1: long-session fix
The installer page installs this version: https://chanseyisthebest.github.io/sa2-nx-installer/
To update by hand instead, replace sa2.nro in switch/sa2-nx/ on the SD card with the one below. The game files,
the shader package and your sa2.toml stay as they are. Logging and the profiler are off, as in every release.
What it changes against 1.0.1
- Long sessions: after a few hours of play, earlier versions could show black textures and missing level
geometry, objects and enemies until the game was closed and opened again. The renderer has 4,096 slots for
textures, and its texture cache only released textures by the size of their pixel data. Sonic Adventure 2's
textures are so small that the slots ran out first, and every texture first seen after that was drawn black or
not at all. The cache now also releases the textures unused for the longest when the slots run low
(sa2_native_texture_slots_evict). - Render-target copies: the renderer kept a copy of every render-target texture (mostly shadow maps) for the
whole session. Copies the game no longer uses are now released (sa2_native_resolved_retire_idle, from the 1.0.2
pre-release).
Everything in 1.0.1 is still there: the faster CPU code and the Chao garden shadow fix.
If the game crashes, please send switch/sa2-nx/logs/rex/rex_crash.log from the SD card. It is written even
with logging off, and it says what went wrong; the console's own crash report does not.
Details: docs/enhancements.md. Setting
either key to false in sa2.toml gives the old behaviour.

1.0.2 (pre-release): long-session fix
Pre-release, for testing a fix. The installer page still installs 1.0.1; to try this build, replace sa2.nro
in switch/sa2-nx/ on the SD card with the one below. The game files, the shader package and your sa2.toml stay
as they are.
What it changes against 1.0.1
- Long sessions: after an hour or two of play, earlier versions could show glitchy shadows, then black textures
and missing level geometry, objects and enemies until the game was closed and opened again. The renderer kept a
copy of every render-target texture (mostly shadow maps) for the whole session, a few more with every stage and
cutscene, and GPU memory filled up. Copies the game no longer uses are now released.
What to test
The fix is checked on the PC (the picture is frame for frame the same) but running out of memory could only be
reasoned about there, not reproduced. The real test is a session of several hours without closing the game,
ideally docked. Please report whether the glitches still appear, and roughly after how long.
Details: docs/enhancements.md,
sa2_native_resolved_retire_idle. Setting that key to false in sa2.toml gives the old behaviour.

1.0.1
Install it with the installer page: https://chanseyisthebest.github.io/sa2-nx-installer/
The page makes the whole SD card folder from your own copy of the game (its Xbox 360 content package, and the
Battle DLC if you have it), in your browser. It downloads sa2.nro from this release; sa2.nro alone does not run:
the game files and the shaders are made from your copy.
1.0.1
- Improve CPU optimisation - ~15% better performance
- Chao garden and kindergarten: fixes black speckles on the ground that could appear depending on what was
played before (a shadow map was read from freed memory).
