First official release. Tested end to end on a second machine: install, calibrate, generate a
sketch, and flash the board.

Install

Download rvBackupHelperSetup-1.0.0.exe below and run it. Python is not required — the
interpreter is bundled. Per-user, so no UAC prompt and nothing in Program Files. x64 Windows.

Unsigned, so SmartScreen warns on first run — More info, then Run anyway. Installing over
0.1.x upgrades in place; nothing needs uninstalling first.

The wizard checks for your hardware before writing a single file, so a machine with no capture
device finds out in five seconds rather than after a 295 MB download. The Arduino AVR compiler is
the last step and optional — you only need it to flash the board.

What this does

Records video from an RV backup camera, turns a few clicks on a recorded clip into a distance
calibration, and generates an Arduino sketch that draws the resulting grid as an overlay on the
camera feed.

Since 0.1.1

  • Your Files, in the Calibrate tab opposite Open Clip, opens the folder holding your clips,
calibrations and logs. In an installed build that lives under AppData, where nobody would
think to look for their own recordings.
  • The version is now written in one place instead of four. 0.1.1 bumped three of them and left
the fourth behind, which is the kind of thing that ends with a bug reported against the wrong
build; a test now fails if the installer and the About box disagree.
  • The manual's screenshots are current again — the About box had been showing 0.1.0, and the
Calibrate tab predated both the new button and the driver/passenger rename.

Since 0.1.0

  • Fixed Upload to Arduino failing with discovery builtin:serial-discovery not found and an
unexpanded {runtime.tools.ctags.path} on any machine that already had Arduino installed.
ctags and the port discoveries are arduino-cli's own tools, fetched only for a package index
that describes them — and an index left by an older Arduino predates them. The installer now
refreshes it regardless of whether the AVR core box is ticked, and the error dialog explains
the repair instead of showing raw compiler output.

Known limitations

  • Windows x64 only.
  • The installer is unsigned.
  • Uploading needs the Arduino AVR compiler; calibrating and generating a sketch do not, and work
with no board and no grabber attached.
