Releases: CheyYuAn/CueTap
Release list
CueTap 0.5.0
This release fixes known bugs and rewrites the Agent Skill.
Fixed
- The menu bar icon was clipped at the top and bottom on macOS 27. It is now drawn as a template image at the height the status bar gives it.
- A password field or the lock screen (Secure Input) no longer quits CueTap. A running demo ends; an idle CueTap keeps waiting and can start the next demo once the secure session is over.
- Configurations written by hand could break in the editor when a brace or an indentation step did not match what the editor does on Enter. Configurations are now compiled from the text you want typed and replayed through a model of the editor before they are written, so what the demo types is what you gave it.
New
cuetap compileturns target text files into a configuration for a VS Code language (vscode-<language id>) or for a plain text field (plain: terminal, browser field, notes). It checks the VS Code settings a demo depends on and reports the ones that would break it.cuetap diffcompares what a demo typed with the target text, one file pair per segment, and reports the first difference.cuetap profileslists the profiles this machine resolves, with the file extensions each language claims.- The rules of all 70 languages VS Code defines are bundled, so compiling works without VS Code installed; an installed VS Code and its extensions still take precedence. See THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md.
- A
backspacekey action, for stepping a line back out one indentation level.
Skill
The Agent Skill in Skills/cuetap is rewritten in the Claude Code layout: one SKILL.md with references. It drives compile, profiles and diff instead of writing keystrokes by hand, covers plain text fields, describes the menu as it is, and says which editor a demo is played in. Copy the folder to ~/.claude/skills/cuetap or your agent's skills directory.
Upgrading
CueTap is ad-hoc signed, so after upgrading grant Accessibility and Input Monitoring again in System Settings. brew upgrade cuetap or download the archive below.
CueTap 0.4.0
First public release.
CueTap replays typing you prepared in advance. You press any key, it emits the next prepared character; what you actually type is discarded. Code, prose, commands, form input, anything you can type.
What is in this version
- Multi-segment configurations, for text that belongs in different places. Command-click to position the next segment, across files and applications.
- Native menu bar item: demo state, shortcuts, and the configuration list expanding in place.
- Launch at Login.
- A CLI covering process control, configuration management, shortcuts and diagnostics. Every command takes
--json, so an agent can drive it. - The example configuration is compiled into the binary, so a first launch works wherever the tool is installed.
Install
brew install CheyYuAn/cuetap/cuetapOr download the archive below and move both files onto your PATH:
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine cuetap
sudo mv cuetap html-demo.json /usr/local/bin/Before the first run
macOS requires Accessibility and Input Monitoring for whatever launches CueTap. Grant both in System Settings under Privacy & Security.
CueTap ships with an ad-hoc signature, which changes with every build, so macOS treats each new version as a different program. After an upgrade, grant both permissions again. cuetap doctor tells you whether that is what happened.
Requires macOS 26.3 or later. Universal binary, Apple Silicon and Intel.
