What's new

• Terminal opacity: A dedicated Appearance slider (40–100, default 75) lets the terminal well show the wallpaper or ambient gradient at its own solidity instead of following the glass slider. Below the default, Settings shows a TUI-selection readability hint rather than clamping. Trajectory and similar tabs also switched to a transparent canvas so the backdrop reaches them.
• Button sheen toggle: A new Appearance switch (按钮悬停光泽 / Button sheen, off by default) keeps each button's plain hover fill; turning it on restores the metallic sheen.
• Pinned pet notifications: Important messages pushed through whale_notify now pin to the desktop pet bubble with a close button and stay until dismissed; new bubbles queue behind the pin instead of replacing it. Successful "看看" (take a look) results stay on screen the same way.
• Periodic-stutter fix: The desktop pet's growth-token scan of session logs moved off the main process onto a worker thread. The 60-second rescan used to freeze every window and IPC for seconds on large session corpora; it now costs a background thread only.
• Differential updates: Launcher upgrades now ride electron-updater's NSIS blockmap channel — unchanged chunks are reused locally and only changed blocks travel over HTTP Range, instead of re-pulling the ~636 MB Setup every release. Any updater failure falls back to the verified whole-file download.
• New brand mark: The app icon, window/taskbar, tray, and installer marks now share the whale-girl's head portrait on a white rounded tile, replacing the black-tile whale glyph; the boot page loader is now her spinning animation (a static head shows under reduced motion).
• Harness baseline dsh-v0.1.6-alpha.2: The desktop client and installer moved to the same new pinned baseline. Official DeepSeek endpoints now resolve to the Messages protocol root https://api.deepseek.com/anthropic; third-party gateway addresses are unaffected.
• New Session no longer takes over old identities: New Session reuses only blank drafts with no history at all — sessions once managed by a plugin, containing messages, or pinned by a user title keep their identity, stay explicitly openable, and are never repurposed as fresh drafts.

Technical contract

• The installed-package Browser P0 path ships dshd mini-player: it reuses the same Browser guest / previewId, mounts as a renderer overlay inside the chat viewport, and preserves the current URL and history on restore.
• The mini-player only moves the guest's presentation bounds; it does not create a second BrowserView, external window, or mini-specific IPC.

Deepseek-Harness-Desktop 0.2.9 (English)

Release date: September 6, 2026. Platform: Windows x64.

Compared with 0.2.7, this release upgrades Harness to 0.1.2-rc.1, repairs vision routing, historical workspace membership, and malformed tool-call handling, and includes built-in Usage Stats, Market, transparent themes, and Server-default remote connections. 0.2.8 was not publicly released.

Important upgrade notes

dshbot is no longer bundled with the desktop. Its source, development preset, and first-party recommendation have been removed. Older dshbot installations may fail to start because they call APIs removed by the newer Harness. Disable only dshbot in the launcher's plugin recovery tools, then start the desktop. Disabling it does not delete plugin files, bot settings, memories, or sessions. Re-enable it after the independent plugin becomes compatible; do not clear user data.

Caution

Migration from a version older than 0.2.7 or from the official CLI does not bring old conversations over automatically.

Since 0.2.7, the desktop uses its own dsh-home and does not read or automatically migrate the official ~/.dsh. Quit the application completely, including the tray, before migrating.

Recommended: open launcher > Import on cold start and copy only the selected items into the desktop home. Do not copy profiles. Compatible old projection caches can be cold-rebuilt automatically, but the app still does not directly read the official ~/.dsh.

Existing 0.2.7 desktop-home users can install over their current version. The desktop home stays the same and the app does not switch back to ~/.dsh.

If the launcher is unavailable, use this Windows PowerShell fallback. Reopen the original workspace path afterwards; directory-free conversations appear in the ungrouped workspace section.

• Align session statistics and peak/off-peak information with the composer width; cumulative session costs can be enabled in Interface Settings.
• Restore titlebar branch switching and push/pull for registered workspaces using the 0.1.2 workspace unary API.

Settings and appearance

• Use official capsule-and-menu value selectors for models, MCP, Skills, General, Interface, and pricing controls.

• Send only catalog-required metadata while retaining all sessions; fetch model, permission, and plan details when opening a session to reduce weak-network catalog timeouts.
• Restore retry after first-connect failure, use saved credentials for reconnect after pairing, and allow new pairing links to cancel unfinished older connections.

• 打包不再把 Git 里残缺的 node_modules 当真相：安装包里的 dshmarket 在打包时用 npm 补齐运行时依赖（undici、js-yaml 及其入口文件）

• 这些依赖若仍缺失，桌面不会把残缺市场插件写进 profile，Harness 还能启动（设置里暂时没有市场）
