v3.19.3 - Update Notice UX Improvements

Overview

This patch release removes redundant update notifications on the plugins page, improving the user experience by eliminating duplicate notices and reducing visual clutter.

Update Notification UX - Removed redundant update notices

  • ❌ Removed simple one-line notice: "There is a new version...View Plugin Updates"
  • ✅ Kept robust notice with title, description, and action buttons
  • 🎯 Update notices no longer shown on plugins page (WordPress native update row is sufficient)
  • 📍 Notices still show on dashboard and other admin pages

Benefits:

  • Eliminates duplicate notifications on /wp-admin/plugins.php
  • Reduces visual clutter and user confusion
  • Consistent with WordPress UX best practices
  • WordPress native update row provides all necessary information

Technical Changes

Files Modified: 2 files

  • includes/class-cuft-admin.php - Deprecated check_update_notices() method
  • includes/admin/class-cuft-admin-notices.php - Added plugins page visibility check

Lines Changed: ~45 lines removed, 5 lines added
Backward Compatible: Yes (deprecated method kept as no-op)

Notice Visibility

Update notices now appear on:

  • ✅ Dashboard (/wp-admin/)
  • ✅ Other admin pages (Posts, Pages, Media, etc.)
  • ✅ Plugin settings pages (except Updates tab)

Update notices no longer appear on:

  • ❌ Plugins page (/wp-admin/plugins.php) - redundant
  • ❌ Plugin's own Updates tab - user already there
  • ❌ WordPress core updates page - WordPress handles it

Installation

Automatic Update

Navigate to Plugins → Choice Universal Form Tracker → Update Now

Or use WP-CLI:

wp plugin update choice-uft

Manual Installation

  1. Download choice-uft-v3.19.3.zip
  2. Upload via WordPress admin: Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin
  3. Activate the plugin
