First public release.

Download Checkers-System-Tal-1.0-win64.zip - the engine ready built for CheckerBoard (Windows, 64-bit, a CPU with AVX2). Unzip, copy cstal64.dll and the folder cstal into CheckerBoard's engines folder, then Engine > Select > cstal64.dll. Instructions in the zip's README.txt and the repository README.

  • Search: PVS with LMR, ProbCut, reverse futility, razoring; lazy SMP.
  • Evaluation: NNUE with 2x2 pattern inputs (0.6 MB).
  • Endgame tables: 4- and 5-piece included; 6-piece can be built from source (about 2 hours).
  • Opening book: every 3-move ballot to ply 20, built warm (425,000 positions).

At one second a move against Cake 1.89f: about level from positions eight plies in, -5.5 +- 3.7 from the 3-move ballots. Full results in the README.
