Substrike 1.0.7 release notes (draft, not published)

Use the text between the lines for the GitHub release body (it replaces the one line placeholder that
release.yml writes). The app's "What's new" link opens the release's GitHub tag page, so this is also
what people see from inside the app. Earlier releases used only the generic release.yml line plus the
CHANGELOG.md section (Discord post and the site Changelog page), so this file is new for 1.0.7.

Substrike 1.0.7

Thank you for using Substrike. This update is about knowing what an export will look like before you
start it, opening Steam recordings, and a round of small fixes found by testing on real clips.

New

  • Steam Game Recording works directly. Add a Steam recording folder, or point the watch folder at
it, and Substrike reads it without exporting from Steam first. Markers you press in game and
    achievements become the first highlights.
  • Size and fit meter. Before you export, Substrike shows how full your size limit is, the
expected file size and picture, and a one click switch to the next size that fits. Batch shows an
estimate for every clip. Without a size limit the estimate is a rough range.
  • Level for each audio track. Turn your mic, your friends or the game up or down, or mute a
track. The preview and the export use the same mix.
  • Spanish (Latin America) and Brazilian Portuguese interface, beta. Change it in Settings, and
    tell us what reads oddly.
  • Projects save as .substrike files. Old .ccproj projects still open.

Improved

  • Substrike asks before deleting saved things such as voices, presets and stickers.
  • Discord Nitro uploads go up to 1 GB.
  • The Library puts the main actions first, with unfinished work in a collapsed list.
  • The watch folder is shown clearly, a whole drive is refused, and one click switches to OBS's folder.
  • A montage that cannot fit its size is stopped before it starts, with the next size that fits.
  • The language setting says "Applies after a restart" and has a Restart now button.

Fixed

  • Steam recordings play in the editor even on PCs without HEVC support.
  • Long clips with several audio tracks start playing at once, with "Preparing audio" while the rest
    of the mix is made.
  • Stop watching keeps your folder.
  • Output goes to one dated Captioned folder per session.
  • Export follows its note: marked range, then ticked clips, then the whole clip.
  • A reel no longer adds a second Substrike ending.
  • Review words counts each word once.
  • Esc closes only the shortcut conflict message, and the frame step moves one frame.
  • Retry all puts skipped clips back in the queue after Stop batch.

Good to know

  • The estimate without a size limit is a guess from a small number of test clips, so a real file can
land a little outside the range. Estimates under a size limit are kept under that limit.
  • The Spanish and Portuguese interface text is marked beta.

Notes for the main session (delete before publishing):

  • Evidence behind the "Good to know" lines: docs/qa-1.0.7-recheck-2026-10-06.md item I-05. Of five
uncapped actuals, four were inside the shown range and Original master was 13 percent outside; the
range was widened afterwards (commit b1bb96b2) and not re-measured. Thin evidence, so the wording
stays soft. No speed or accuracy claim is made anywhere in these notes.
  • Known and left, not in the notes: after a crash, launch can auto-resume the recovered clip (recheck
N-04), and the editor badge can say 30 unsure words while Review words counts 37.
  • Untested in QA and so not claimed: drag and drop, Flag deaths, Discord posting, Translate, AI cleanup,
Custom size export, MSIX and Steam builds.
