Still turns a Meta Portal into a local photo frame with USB and browser uploads, named albums, customizable covers, and automatic settings.
Download and install
Download still-0.11.0.apk below. You only need Google SDK Platform-Tools, a USB data cable, and a Portal with USB debugging enabled; Android Studio and a source build are unnecessary.
Connect the Portal, approve USB debugging, then run with ADB on your PATH:
adb devices
adb install --no-incremental -r still-0.11.0.apk
adb shell am start -n com.portalframe/.MainActivityadb devices must show device, and installation must print Success. For Windows/macOS/Linux setup and troubleshooting, see the installation instructions.
Included
- USB FAT32/exFAT import, local-folder import, and temporary Wi-Fi uploads with an address, QR code, and upload code.
- Progress on the Portal and browser, including receiving/copying and preparing/saving.
- Named albums, independent copies, 1–4-photo cover collages, previews, and storage usage.
- JPEG, HEIF/HEIC, PNG, and WebP; rotation, orientation filtering, crop-to-fill, and preserved proportions when appropriate.
- Complete shuffle rounds, slideshow timing/transitions, clock/date, IP-based weather, and ambient-light nightstand mode.
- Settings save automatically without a Save button or saved notification.
Compatibility and verification
- Android 9+; tested on an Android 10 Meta Portal at 1280 × 800 / 800 × 1280. Portal firmware must permit USB debugging and sideloading. Other devices and HEIF codec variants may differ.
- This is a normal signed APK with app and WebView debugging disabled. It exactly matches the build installed and tested on the maintainer's Portal.
SHA256SUMScontains hashes for the APK andSIGNING_CERTIFICATE.txt; the latter records the APK signer's public SHA-256 fingerprint. No signing key or personal photos are distributed.- The signer matches the prior installed Still build. Use
-rto retain albums/settings. Builds made from another signing key cannot update it in place; do not uninstall to resolve a signature mismatch if you need to keep your private library.
