CivicNet Core v3.0.0 — Hybrid PoW+PoS
This release introduces Hybrid Proof-of-Work + Proof-of-Stake consensus to CivicNet — the biggest change to the network since the civiclight v2 ASIC-resistance hardfork.
What's New
- Hybrid PoW+PoS consensus: Blocks are now produced by both CPU mining (PoW) and staking (PoS), side by side on the same chain. Hold CIVIC in an unlocked wallet and the network takes care of the rest — no minimums, no lockups, no masternodes.
- Fair, anti-whale staking: Staking odds scale with the square root of your balance, not linearly — no single large holder can dominate the network.
- Anti-clustering protection: PoS blocks can't chain back-to-back without PoW blocks in between, keeping the network balanced.
- Dynamic PoW/PoS ratio: The network automatically adjusts the balance between mining and staking blocks over time, always keeping PoW dominant.
- Staking-only wallet unlock: Unlock your wallet specifically for staking without exposing spending capability — ideal for wallets left running unattended.
- Live staking status: See at a glance whether your wallet is actively staking.
