For reproducible build and to avoid issues with static linking.
Downsides:
mariadb-connector-cin contrast tolibmysqlclientdoesn't have support forcaching_sha2_passwordauthentication method, that is the default in MySQL 8.Look at https://stackoverflow.com/questions/49194719/authentication-plugin-caching-sha2-password-cannot-be-loaded and https://jira.mariadb.org/browse/CONC-312
MySQL 8 can be used if another authentication mechanism is enabled on the server side.
