Short Tracker v0.2.1

Short Tracker is an open-source Windows desktop application and reference website for exploring publicly disclosed UK net short positions alongside historical share prices.

This is the first downloadable stable release. It is intended for Windows 10 and Windows 11 on x64 systems.

Highlights

  • Search UK issuers and view net short-position history on a synchronized timeline.
  • Compare short-position changes with historical share-price movement using aligned charts.
  • Browse the current disclosed net-short-position ranking.
  • Switch between English and Chinese in the desktop interface.
  • Launch from a single desktop executable; closing the application window also stops the bundled local service.
  • Check for application updates and refresh supported public-source data from within the application.
  • Store downloaded runtime data under the current Windows user's local application-data directory rather than inside the installation folder.

Download and run

  1. Download Short-Tracker-v0.2.1-windows-x64.zip below.
  2. Verify its SHA-256 checksum against the included .sha256 file.
  3. Extract the ZIP to a normal user-writable folder.
  4. Double-click Short Tracker.exe.

The application is unsigned. Windows SmartScreen may show an unknown-publisher warning. Review the checksum, manifest, source, and provenance before choosing to run it. No code-signing certificate is claimed for this release.

Data and privacy

  • The downloadable package contains application code and runtime components only; it does not include the maintainer's private datasets, browser profiles, credentials, tokens, local databases, personal documents, or personal contact information.
  • Data downloaded after installation is saved locally for the current Windows user.
  • The companion public website currently contains synthetic demonstration data only and is intentionally marked noindex while live-data publication is being completed.
  • Current demonstration site: https://ukshort.com/

Integrity and provenance

The Windows archive was built, tested, verified, and attested by the tag workflow on a GitHub-hosted runner. The package manifest reports version = 0.2.1, channel = stable, data_included = false, and code_signed = false.

Manual draft recovery note

The Windows build-and-attest job completed successfully and uploaded the verified assets. The later automated draft-release metadata job failed because its Linux checksum parser did not normalize the carriage return in the Windows-generated CRLF checksum line. The three exact assets from that run were independently downloaded and reverified before this Release was created manually. The immutable v0.2.1 tag and attested archive were not moved or rebuilt.

The parser normalization is fixed on main for future releases. The earlier v0.2.0 candidate did not pass the release audit and was never published as a GitHub Release.

Third-party licenses

Third-party license and notice files are bundled in the Windows package and recorded in the release manifest. The accepted proxy-tools disclosure remains documented: the redistributed component's recorded license source differs from another upstream source reference, so users should review the bundled notice and source references before redistribution.
