What changed

Updates are now checked before you sign in, not only after.

The check used to belong to the main window, and the main window is not built at all until a sign-in succeeds. So a copy sitting at the sign-in screen never checked for anything. That is the run that most needs an update: whoever cannot get past sign-in may be stuck on something a newer version fixes.

The check now starts with the program itself, a few seconds in, and still quietly. An up to date copy says nothing at all.

If you are on 0.1.3 this is the last update you will have to fetch by hand from this page, unless you were already signing in successfully, in which case nothing about updating changes for you.

Warning

Discord does not permit third party clients on a normal user account, and using one can get the account banned. Your password is sent to discord.com and nowhere else, is never written to disk and never logged; only the returned token is kept, sealed with your Windows account key.
