WINDOWS:

- It is recommended that you have the latest Windows, Linux or Mac OS on a working laptop.
- Window Home or Professional
- Create paid account for Claude
- Create a GitHub account
- Using a Windows 11 Laptop with the following requirements
- Intel CPUs: "Intel Virtualization Technology," "VT-x," or "VT-d" must be ON in your BIOS
- OR AMD CPUs: "AMD-V" or "SVM" (Secure Virtual Machine) must be ON in your BIOS
- Latest Powershell 7
- wsl --install
- wsl --install ubuntu
- The first time you run wsl you will need to create a login and password
- Download and install usbipd-win
- Follow directions from the usbipd-win README.md
- Download Docker Desktop for your OS
- Download Visual Studio Code
- Start Visual Studio Code
- Select Extensions
- Search for container tools
- Install Docker Container tools extension into Visual Studio Code
- Install Claude Code for VS Code extension into Visual Studio Code

LINUX:

- Create a GitHub account
Following the Sections 1-5 in the prerequistes file to install docker and build a docker for claude. To add additional capabilities for example: git, gcc, see Section 6.
This should work for any Debian based version of Linux. If you get error messages in starting claude make sure that there is only one claude docker; delete the others and restart the docker. If you are using a non-Debian based version, post on the cdl groups.io site and the instructors will try to help.
If you still have any issues, come to the first class early and the instructors will help you
