Reclaim 1.2.0

@Claytonwendel Claytonwendel released this 29 Jul 05:20

Reclaim 1.2.0 — the biggest update yet. Apple Silicon · macOS 14+ · notarized by Apple · free.

New

  • AI explanations (bring your own key). Connect your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google key and a ✨ button appears next to items in Scan and My Mac — click it to ask "What is this, and is it safe to delete?" Grounded in the real details of the item; your key stays in the macOS Keychain and requests go straight to your provider.
  • Supported-CLI cleanup adapters. Where it can, Reclaim now cleans with the tool's own commands (npm, brew, pip, and more) instead of raw deletion.
  • Quit-app-and-clean. Reclaim can close a running app first, then clear its cache safely.
  • My Mac drill-in: expandable folders, and everything in the browser is now removable to quarantine.

Fixed

  • AI popup now opens correctly from the My Mac drill-in.

Everything still goes to a reversible quarantine, sorted into the 5-tier safety model. Nothing is deleted until you say so.

Reclaim 1.1.1

@Claytonwendel Claytonwendel released this 28 Jul 05:02

Reclaim 1.1.1 — reliability fixes for cleanup & restore.

  • Cleanup now handles files owned by the system or created via sudo — they're clearly marked "needs admin" instead of silently failing.
  • Protected macOS folders (like ~/Library/Logs) are cleaned by clearing their contents to the reversible quarantine, rather than failing to move the whole folder.
  • Quarantine now shows exactly what's inside each batch, and Restore reliably puts items back.
  • Every cleanup reports an honest summary (what moved, what couldn't, and why) — no more silent failures or confusing empty entries.

Requires macOS 14+ on Apple Silicon. Notarized by Apple.

@Claytonwendel Claytonwendel released this 27 Jul 17:36

Reclaim 1.1.0 — a big step up from 1.0.

New

  • My Mac — browse your entire disk: every category drills in with size/age filters, bulk-select, and send to the reversible quarantine. Photos & videos are gathered from everywhere on your Mac (not just one folder).
  • Duplicate finder — byte-identical photos, videos, and downloads grouped together; keep the newest, reclaim the rest.
  • Full storage breakdown — the old opaque "System" bucket is now itemized (Protected Data, macOS System, update files, virtual memory), reconciled exactly to your real disk usage.
  • History — a running timeline of everything you've reclaimed.
  • Full Disk Access guidance — a clear prompt so the scan can see (and clean) everything.
  • Smoother scan progress, a shareable "GB reclaimed" card, and expanded cleanup coverage (80 recipes).

Reclaim 1.0.2

@Claytonwendel Claytonwendel released this 22 Jul 23:03

Reclaim 1.0.2 — see everything on your Mac, not just what's removable.

New: the "My Mac" tab

A complete, honest picture of where your storage actually goes — apps, photos, documents, developer caches, system files, and more. It walks your whole disk and reconciles exactly to your real used space (it matches About This Mac), with a clearly-labeled "macOS System & Snapshots" slice for the sealed system volume and snapshots no app can reclaim. Read-only — a companion to the Scan tab.

New: Full Disk Access guidance

Reclaim now detects when Full Disk Access is off and nudges you to grant it — with a banner and a sidebar hint — because it makes both storage showing and saving accurate. One click opens the right Settings pane; Reclaim re-checks automatically when you switch back.

Install

  1. Download Reclaim.dmg below
  2. Open it and drag Reclaim to Applications
  3. Launch — notarized by Apple, no Gatekeeper warnings

Requires macOS 14+ on Apple Silicon.
