CU GeoData is a Student Project Team at the Cornell University Duffield College of Engineering, founded in 2020. As the only project team affiliated with the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, CU GeoData provides undergraduates with the funding, resources, and opportunities to pursue meaningful student-led research at the intersection of science and engineering, using novel instruments to understand the planet we all call home. CU GeoData is organized into six subteams: Air, Water, Rock, Tech, Data, and Business. A few current projects include:
- A buoy on Cayuga Lake, complete with a weather station and lake sensors (Water/Tech)
- A model to predict lake-effect snow events on the Finger Lakes (Data/Water)
- A network of weather stations in Central New York, to better understand atmospheric conditions (Air/Tech)
- A model to better understand and predict landslides (Rock)
- And more!
