Thank you, we've always needed this topic. Perhaps we should also add more information here about what exactly "Criteria variable" and "Bonus/penalty variable" mean, what values they might have, and how to interpret them. I was working on this task (awards and trophies) a year ago. Because completing this task requires functionality and logic, which we don't have. Even though, most of this functionality for awards and trophies had already been implemented before me. First, it should be noted that completing this task is technically impossible right now, as one of the trophies is dedicated to killing mice, but we don't have mice in the game. So, I'm not sure whether we should push this task now, since there's no mouse functionality. Secondly, it's unclear how to map the values from the SAM file to our data in CorsixTH. Since almost everything was implemented in CorsixTH in its own way, it's unclear how this was implemented in Theme Hospital. What do 25 and 75 mean here, and how should they be interpreted and map on CorsixTH? I was also confused by the fact that in CorsixTH, doctors' happiness is calculated completely differently than in the original game. In the original Theme Hospital, doctors are happy if they don't work overtime, if they're not too hot or too warm, and if there's no trash. Salary has no effect on their mood whatsoever. In CorsixTH, however, doctors are happiest primarily because their salary is proportionate to their skills. How materialistic! And everything else is almost irrelevant. Because of this, when you start training doctors and their skills increase, but their salary remains the same, they become unhappy. Therefore, doctors in CorsixTH are often more unhappy than in Theme Hospital. Unless, of course, you proactively raise their salaries. So by training doctors this way, you will risk getting the Penalty for staff happiness. But that's not how it was in the original Theme Hospital game. Look here: So, 25 and 75 from the SAM file are not the same as the hypothetical 25 and 75 in CorsixTH. Agree? Currently, in the CorsixTH code, depending on whether the award conditions are met, either a certificate (a framed piece of paper) or trophies (statuettes) are displayed on the awards screen. Therefore, I think it might make sense to clarify in a separate column in the table which achievements award a certificate and which award a trophy. It's a bit unclear. Regarding this, I have a hypothesis that the rewards that have "Award" and "Poor" values award certificates. If you complete an "Award," you get a red certificate. If you complete a "Poor" but haven't completed the "Award," nothing is shown. If you haven't even completed the "Poor" condition, you get a black certificate. Also, note that there are 12 items in the table, but only 6 certificates and 4 trophies fit on the in-game screen (6 + 4 = 10). I have a hypothesis/answer to this too: Good luck! |

Also, in the original game, player could receive a fine for insufficient maintenance of the machines and for excessive floor contamination. |

There are still a number of end-of-year awards that need to be implemented. The criteria and rewards/penalties for these awards are dependant on the game's difficulty and in some cases by the current level. More specifically, they are defined by the .SAM files in the HOSP/LEVELS directory. The variable names and descriptions have been extracted and are presented below:
