• The trackpad swipes work again after the Mac wakes from hibernation. When the battery runs out while the Mac sleeps, macOS saves everything to disk, and on waking it brings the trackpad back as a new device, which a Rambla that was already open could no longer read the fingers from: the swipes stopped working until Rambla was opened again. Now Rambla notices the trackpad coming back and starts again by itself once the screen is unlocked, and the windows stay in their places. / Los swipes del trackpad vuelven a andar después de que la Mac sale de la hibernación. Cuando la batería se agota con la Mac dormida, macOS guarda todo en el disco, y al despertar trae el trackpad de vuelta como un dispositivo nuevo, del que un Rambla que ya estaba abierto no podía leer los dedos: los swipes dejaban de andar hasta volver a abrir Rambla. • Pausing Rambla no longer leaves anything behind in macOS. Each pause left Rambla's trackpad listener registered with macOS, turned off, until Rambla quit. / Pausar Rambla ya no deja restos en macOS. • A new veil between strips: when you switch strips, the screen frosts over and each window turns into a card with its app's color, icon and name. The cards of the strip you leave slide off the screen, and those of the strip that comes slide in to their windows' places, so the switch reads as the whole strip moving. Then the veil goes, and each window is where its card landed. With macOS's Reduce motion, the glass just fades in and out. / Un velo nuevo entre tiras: al cambiar de tira, la pantalla se esmerila y cada ventana se vuelve una tarjeta con el color, el ícono y el nombre de su app. Las tarjetas de la tira que dejás se deslizan fuera de la pantalla, y las de la tira que llega entran hasta el lugar de sus ventanas, así que el cambio se ve como si se moviera la tira entera. • Site icons for browser windows (optional): turn on Settings → Appearance → Site icons, and in the overview and on the veil a browser window shows the icon and the name of the site its tab is on, with the browser's icon in a corner, so YouTube and GitHub look apart. For that, Rambla reads the page's address and asks the site for its icon, once per site, with no cookies, keeping it only in memory. It stays off unless you turn it on. / Íconos de los sitios en las ventanas del navegador (opcional): activá Configuración → Apariencia → Íconos de los sitios, y en la vista general y en el velo una ventana del navegador muestra el ícono y el nombre del sitio de su pestaña, con el ícono del navegador en una esquina: YouTube y GitHub se distinguen. • Restarting the Mac keeps the windows in their places. macOS quits the apps as it restarts, and Rambla took each app's windows out of their strips as it quit, so they came back at the end. Now the layout from before the restart is the one kept. A window whose title changed (a terminal, a document on another page) also goes back to its place when it is the only one of its app the strip is missing. / Reiniciar la Mac deja las ventanas en su lugar. macOS cierra las apps al reiniciar, y Rambla sacaba de las tiras las ventanas de cada app que se cerraba, así que volvían al final. Ahora queda guardado el orden de antes del reinicio. Una ventana cuyo título cambió (una terminal, un documento en otra página) también vuelve a su lugar cuando es la única de su app que le falta a la tira.
• VS Code and other slow apps no longer leave their strip by themselves. These apps report a move late, and Rambla took its own earlier move for another app's and set the window floating. / VS Code y otras apps lentas ya no se salen solas de la tira. Esas apps avisan tarde de una movida, y Rambla tomaba una movida suya de un momento antes como de otra app y dejaba la ventana flotando.
• Windows no longer flicker next to a laptop screen that sits lower. When the screen beside the strip's one starts lower (a laptop next to a monitor), a window that peeked over it was pushed down below its menu bar by macOS or by the app (VS Code does this), and it jumped up and down as the strip moved. Now no window peeks over such a screen, and windows come and go flush with the edge. With screens aligned at the top, the next column still peeks. / Las ventanas ya no parpadean al lado de la pantalla de una notebook que está más baja. • Stacked strips: each display and desktop can now hold several strips, one above the other, and you see one at a time: work below, home above. ⌃⌥⌘↑ and ⌃⌥⌘↓ take you to the strip above or below, and ⌃⌥⌘⇧↑ and ⌃⌥⌘⇧↓ take the focused window along. Going up from the top strip opens a new empty one, and an empty strip at the top goes away once you leave it. While the strip changes, a frosted veil crosses the screen and hides the windows' jump. • The vertical swipe now changes strips (a new default): with the natural direction, a short swipe down shows the strip above and a short swipe up the one below. A long swipe up gives the focused window the full width, or takes it back, and a long swipe down opens the overview, as before. The mouse buttons work the same way. To get the old gesture back, choose "Changes the width" in Settings → Trackpad & Mouse → Swiping up or down. / El deslizamiento vertical ahora cambia de tira (nuevo por defecto): con la dirección natural, uno corto hacia abajo muestra la tira de arriba y uno corto hacia arriba la de abajo. • The focus takes you there: ⌘Tab, the Dock or a notification to a window of another strip brings that strip into view. • A four-finger swipe no longer scrolls the app under the pointer. With macOS's own four-finger swipes turned off, macOS sent the fingers' movement to the window under the pointer as ordinary scrolling, so swiping down to get a column's width back or to open the overview also scrolled the article you were reading, and it kept gliding after the fingers lifted. Now Rambla keeps that scrolling, and its glide, from the app; scrolling with two fingers works as always. / Deslizar con cuatro dedos ya no desplaza la app que está debajo del puntero. Con los gestos de cuatro dedos de macOS apagados, macOS le mandaba el movimiento de los dedos como scroll común a la ventana que estaba debajo del puntero: al deslizar hacia abajo para volver al ancho de antes o abrir la vista general, el artículo que estabas leyendo también se movía, y seguía deslizándose después de levantar los dedos. • The Mac's screen beside a monitor. Opening the lid next to a monitor, the windows parked on that side flew across the monitor, and so did every window going out or coming in on that side as the strip scrolled; windows that macOS moved by itself as the screens changed stayed piled up; and a window going back to the Mac's screen crossed the whole monitor. Now windows out of sight change edges at once, come and go through their own side, and go back to their places. Closing the lid, the windows on the Mac's screen join the monitor's strip in 2 seconds instead of 15. / La pantalla de la Mac al lado de un monitor. Al abrir la tapa al lado de un monitor, las ventanas estacionadas de ese lado cruzaban el monitor, y lo mismo pasaba al deslizar con cada ventana que salía o entraba por ahí; las que macOS movía por su cuenta al cambiar las pantallas quedaban encimadas, y una ventana que volvía a la pantalla de la Mac cruzaba todo el monitor. • Waking the Mac with its lid closed no longer reorders the strip. macOS shows a virtual display for about a second while the monitor turns back on; Rambla took it for a display coming back and handed it windows, which then came back in another order and with other widths. / Despertar la Mac con la tapa cerrada ya no reordena la tira. macOS muestra una pantalla virtual durante un segundo mientras el monitor se enciende; Rambla la tomaba por una pantalla que volvía y le pasaba ventanas, que después volvían en otro orden y con otros anchos.

• Haptic feedback: on a Force Touch trackpad, a gentle tap each time a swipe is about to take the strip to another column (in a quick swipe, as soon as it starts, with your fingers still down), and with the swipes up and down. • After an unlock or a restart, every window goes back to its place: Rambla waits until every app has listed its windows, instead of arranging the strip with the first ones. Desktops not visited since a restart keep their layout too. / Después de desbloquear la Mac o de un reinicio, cada ventana vuelve a su lugar: Rambla espera a que todas las apps informen sus ventanas en vez de armar la tira con las primeras. First public release of Rambla, a free and open-source scrolling window manager for macOS. Every window is a column on a strip that keeps going past the edges of the screen: opening a window adds a column beside the one you are using instead of shrinking everything else.

Primera versión pública de Rambla, un gestor de ventanas con scroll horizontal para macOS, gratis y open source. Cada ventana es una columna de una tira que sigue más allá de los bordes de la pantalla: abrir una ventana agrega una columna al lado de la que estás usando, sin achicar las demás.

What it does / Qué hace

• One strip per display and per Space, with spring animations. / Una tira por pantalla y por escritorio, con animaciones de resorte.
• Keyboard on ⌃⌘, clear of Rectangle's ⌃⌥: focus and move columns, widths (25–75 %, full width, center), pinned columns, stacks and tabs. / Teclado con ⌃⌘, sin chocar con el ⌃⌥ de Rectangle: enfocar y mover columnas, anchos (25–75 %, ancho completo, centrar), columnas fijadas, pilas y pestañas.

• Mouse: ⌃⌘ + wheel goes through the columns, and holding the mouse buttons you choose (the middle one, or the side buttons 4 + 5 together) while moving the mouse slides the strip or changes the width. 2. Rambla is not notarized by Apple, so macOS will not open it the first time: go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway (on macOS 14, right-click → Open). / Rambla no está notarizada por Apple, así que la primera vez macOS no la abre: andá a Ajustes del Sistema → Privacidad y seguridad y tocá «Abrir de todos modos» (en macOS 14, click derecho → Abrir).
