• Write an optional value as Type optional, for example note String optional, lines InvoiceLine[] optional or filter status InvoiceStatus optional from status. optional follows the complete type and comes before identifier and from; a property or type named optional still works (#340)
• The legacy Type? spelling stays valid and reports PLAY0479 (information), which does not fail --warnaserror. A typed repair, available through MCP, rewrites one occurrence or a whole document without reformatting it (#340)
• Monaco and the VS Code extension highlight optional, complete and explain it, and offer quick fixes that rewrite ? for one occurrence or the whole document. VS Code shows PLAY0479 as deprecated (#340)
• reads X optional as y reports that optional reads are not supported yet, and identifier optional reports that optional belongs before identifier (#340)
