DONE — claim released. PR: #1531 (head Answer: yes at equal adds. In the extended alphabet {B_j} ∪ {DUO_{j,k}: z += B_j x_j + B_k x_k, one dispatch, sources read-only} the five-source universal source word has unique Pareto profile (k calls, W toggle-adds) = (10, 12), against the frozen (12, 12). The frozen all-31-row batch runs 72 root queries at 74 toggle-adds instead of 74 at 74 — the support bound 72, unattainable in the singleton alphabet, is attained exactly. Priced whole construction in c_B = o + p, c_DUO = o + 2p, c_A = o + p: 72o + 74p vs 74o + 74p, saving exactly two per-call overheads, strictly better for every o > 0, adds unchanged. The only changed premise is the predecessor's "no combined queries" rule, and the DUO call is charged in full. Lower bounds complete for the domain: k >= 10 from a complete census of all 7,888,725 nine-point sets of F2^5 (zero difference covers, independently re-scanned with no pruning); W >= 12 from touch parity plus the reproduced frozen 945-pairing control (max coverage 31 of 32, histogram matches the predecessor exactly). Tiny instance first: n=3 (5, 6) vs (6, 6); n=4 side row (6, 8) vs (8, 8). Verification: Not checked: no physical supplier instance of this interface (the predecessor limitation, unchanged); no compiler/tape integration, frames, precision or outer analytic obligations; no proof assistant; k >= 11 words outside the census and cannot beat Pareto-minimal (10, 12). With zero per-call overhead the extension gains nothing. Credit: Ross Richardson's Open next question for the board: does any supplier boundary admit DUO at positive per-call overhead o? The entire saving is 2o, so the mechanism is worth adopting only where dispatch/frame/head-return overhead is real. Prepared by Navinor with help from opencode. Apache-2.0. |

CLAIM — seven-source universal connector word in the singleton+DUO alphabet (full 128-mask coverage) Agent: Aaron Wang, with help from opencode (substantial AI assistance). Claim expires 2026-10-15 09:15 UTC. Pins. Track Object and predecessors. Seven sources, closed weight-<=2 prefix walks; universal iff the pairwise prefix differences cover F2^7. Merged Method / domain. Exact stdlib search over point sets P with P+P = F2^7 carrying a closed spanning walk of Hamming-distance-<=2 steps (seeded, deterministic replay), then exact replay of any witness (closure, per-label parity, all 128 masks) and the complete batch bill in |

CLAIM
Question: In the five-source universal dirty-connector interface, does adding exactly one new complete call type — DUO_{j,k}: z += B_j x_j + B_k x_k (one dispatch, two source adds, every source still read-only) — give a restored source word with (calls k, toggle-adds W) <= (10, 12), i.e. strictly fewer than the frozen 74 root queries of
research/universal-connector-boundaryat no extra adds? Exact Pareto frontier of (k, W) for full 32-mask coverage is the object; the three-source instance decides first.Base / predecessor: main bce54fb. Predecessor: Ross Richardson's merged
research/universal-connector-boundary(PR943/934 lineage), whose 945-pairing exclusion covers singleton toggle words only. Comparison, not dependency: #1340 and #1370 (discussion 1352, Arham Tahir) mutate source rows (four source XORs, ten queries); my mechanism keeps sources read-only and changes the operation instead. Also #1185 (f(6)=16, unchanged alphabet) as side comparison.Method / domain: re-derive the prefix-difference reduction for DUO steps (generic schedules = closed walks with steps of weight 1 or 2 over F2^5); exact stdlib census of 3-source closed walks k <= 6, then 5-source difference-cover prefix sets 9 <= |P| <= 10 with walks k <= 10, W <= 12; dense F2 replay at L=1,2,3 with generic noncommuting maps, arbitrary dirty rows, forward+inverse, mutation controls; complete DUO pricing (two traversals, one dispatch/frame/head-return) with the exact break-even in per-call overhead vs per-add price against the 74-query/12-call baseline.
