Highlights
- Git tabs open expanded, with the diff visible immediately; splits retain the compact sidebar default. Independent Initial Split Layout / Initial Tab Layout settings control newly opened panes.
- More reliable launchers: bounded lock and command waits, explicit failure diagnostics, preserved workspace/pane targets, and reuse after uncertain creation outcomes.
- Herdr 0.9 visible tab switching now works when creating or reusing Git panes. Consecutive
Upresses reliably reload the rendered layout. - Private runtime updated to lazygit 0.65.0 and fzf 0.74.4. Conflicting handwritten plugin keys select free alternatives while preserving native actions and saved preferences.
- Updated installation and remote-keybinding documentation, plus actual terminal rendering tests across Herdr 0.7.0, 0.7.5, 0.8.2 and 0.9.0 on Ubuntu and macOS.
Upgrade notes
- New tabs now default to expanded. Set
DEFAULT_MODE_TAB=sidebarinpanel.confto retain the previous default. Both initial layout settings acceptsidebarorexpanded; reused panes preserve their current layout and placement. - Expanded splits respect
EXPAND_COLS; single-pane tabs keep their full width. - Herdr 0.7.0 reserves
prefix+shift+gfor new worktrees. Unbind or reassign that default before using it for the plugin tab action; see the README. - Herdr 0.9 public tab focus is session-wide and may also switch other clients attached to the same server. Strict client-local switching requires upstream support.
- Supported platforms remain macOS and Linux, with Herdr >= 0.7.0. Windows contribution review and a CI plan are documented, but Windows support is not included.
