The first public release of Pomofocus, a beautiful, local-first focus timer for macOS.

Highlights

  • Menu-bar timer: a focus tank that drains as you work, breathes with you, and blinks red in overtime
  • Cinema mode (⇧⌘F): a full-screen, screensaver-like countdown made for ultrawide displays
  • End session (⌘.): stop a whole sitting and keep every minute, with confetti and a breakdown of every pomodoro
  • Desktop widgets, a day timeline with an optional read-only calendar overlay, and private analytics
  • Locally generated ambience: rain, ocean, brown noise and a soft tick
  • No accounts, no telemetry, no network calls. Your data stays in one JSON file on your Mac

Install

  1. Download Pomofocus.zip below and unzip it.
  2. Drag Pomofocus into Applications.
  3. This build isn't notarized by Apple, so macOS blocks the first launch. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway, or run: 
    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Pomofocus.app

Requires macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon.
