UTM is a emulator based of off QEMU. It is available in macOS, iOS, and iPadOS. After following this readme, you will be anle to run Windows 95 in a MacBook/iMac, an iPhone, and an iPad. An interesting fact is that UTM is available in the app store, named UTM SE. SE means for slow edition, which basically uses qemu's tcg intrepreter (which is very slow.). Meanwhile on the other hand, UTM sideloaded uses JIT, which helps to increase speed in the VM by using dynamic code execution in the CPU. In a mac, UTM uses apple's own virtualization firmware to make the VM fast as it possibly can be.
Basically the process is same for an mac.
First, you need to download UTM SE from the app store or sideload UTM from AltStore or SideStore (Note: AltStore PAL won't work.) Also you need StikDebug for UTM Sideloaded to work.
For example in this tutorial i will be using UTM SE.
First, open UTM/UTM SE in your iDevice.
Now, tap the plus button in UTM.
It will redirect you to a menu. Now in that menu, tap open.
Now it will redirect you to Files. Locate the UTM Folder and tap Windows 95 Pre-installed if you want to skip downloading an .iso and get straight to windows 95, or tap Windows 95 Pre-configured if you want to continue througj the windows setup, though you need to download an .iso. I will give the link of the iso later. For example I selected Windows 95 Pre-installed.
Ignore this warning.
Now if you selected pre-configured, you have to put your iso at cd-dvd. An iso i recommend you get is this one: https://archive.org/details/win-95-osr-2
It has a legal, valid product key.
If you are using the pre-installed .utm file, just boot into windows 95.
Let it boot!
Now, you will hear that iconic windows 95 boot chime.
Then, you can do retro gaming, etc.
I have disabled networking by default because Windows 95 is ancient and lacks modern security. Enabling it exposes the VM to major security flaws. If you turn it on, malware inside the VM could try to scan your local network or target your router's IP address. For iOS and iPadOS users, Apple's strict sandboxing prevents the VM from accessing personal data like your messages or photos. However, running an unencrypted, legacy network stack on a Mac carries higher security risks for the host machine. These risks generally trigger only if you visit unsafe websites using Internet Explorer or run untrusted files inside Windows 95. If you choose to enable networking, you do so knowing these risks. The author bears absolutely zero responsibility for any security issues, network disruptions, or compromises to your Mac, iPhone, or local network. Proceed entirely at your OWN risk
