Release list
Coremium 2.0.3
What's new
- No more stutter from Coremium itself. All measuring (processes, CPU, GPU, memory) now runs in the background, so the notch panel and your Mac's main thread are never held up. Coremium's own idle cost stays around 0.06% of one core.
- Copy diagnostics. If something feels off, Settings › Copy diagnostics copies versions, current state and a local log of slow moments for a bug report. Nothing is ever sent.
- Homebrew.
brew install --cask cubinghackerz/tap/coremium
Free, open source, no account. No speed, battery or temperature claims: Coremium shows only what it measures.
Install: download the DMG below, update from the banner in the panel, or use Homebrew. Checksums are in Coremium-2.0.3.sha256.
Coremium 2.0.2
What's new
- Tabs you can read. Seven named tabs (Apps, Insights, Storage, System, Simulate, Guide, Settings). Switch with ⌘1–⌘7 or Control-Tab. Advanced and Hide have their own row, so mode names are never cut off.
- Fullscreen fix, only when it's needed. The fix window now appears only on a display that is showing a fullscreen app, and goes away when you leave fullscreen. Moving, tiling and resizing ordinary windows behaves exactly like stock macOS again.
- Smoother panel. Coremium no longer measures your Mac while the panel animates open or closed, which could freeze it mid-way.
- Adaptive Automatic. Automatic waits for sustained CPU pressure before moving busy background apps, and moves them back after sustained relief. Turn it off in Settings.
- Shorter first launch. A quick screen shows real activity right away; the full tour is optional.
Free, open source, no account. No speed, battery or temperature claims: Coremium shows only what it measures.
Install: download the DMG below, or update from the banner in the panel. Checksums are in Coremium-2.0.2.sha256.
Coremium 2.0.1
Bug fixes:
- Storage could get stuck on "Scanning…" if you started a Large files search during a scan.
- Chrome's cache (in a folder named "Google") is now recognised as in use while Chrome is open, and skipped.
- Updating is safer: the old app is kept until the new one is copied in, and put back if anything fails.
- Per-game rules: the chips now show the choice for the scope you're editing.

Coremium 2.0
Coremium 2.0 goes from moving processes to managing your Mac's headroom.
New
- Memory guard (System tab): memory pressure, swap, and the apps using the most memory, with Hide and Quit (you choose, it asks first). Warns when swap grows during a boost.
- Startup helpers (System tab): the background helpers that start with your account, each with a reversible on/off switch.
- Session reports: when a boost ends, a measured summary drops out of the notch. Insights keeps recent ones as shareable image cards (Copy image).
- Rules per game: while a game is boosted, switch the chips to "This game only".
- Battery-aware: unplugged, apps working hard in the background move to the efficiency cores even without a boost (Settings).
- Automation:
coremium://mode/gaming,coremium://pause,coremium://open/storage,Coremium --mode codingin Terminal, and Shortcuts actions. - In-app updates: a daily check for a newer version; one click installs it after verifying the SHA-256 checksum. It is Coremium's only network request and can be turned off.
- Live notch: live core meter in the notch during a boost; decisions drop out of the notch for three seconds.
- Storage: disk ring, review before moving to Trash, caches of running apps skipped, review-only Large files.
- GPU: per-app and device GPU use.
- Mostly monochrome design with colour only where it means something.
Ad-hoc signed and not notarized: install with the Terminal command in the README to skip the macOS prompt. Tested on macOS 27 / M3 Pro.
Full Changelog: v0.1.2...v2.0.0
Coremium 0.1.2
- Monochrome redesign: black, white and greys.
- Live notch: during a boost the ears show live performance-core load and the number of apps moved aside; each decision drops out of the notch for three seconds (click-through, can be turned off).
- Storage: disk ring, per-category scan that never blocks, review screen with warnings before anything goes to the Trash, caches of running apps skipped, review-only Large files finder.
- GPU: per-app and device GPU use shown; honest about what macOS allows.
Ad-hoc signed and not notarized, so macOS asks once (or install with the Terminal command in the README). Tested on macOS 27 / M3 Pro.
Full Changelog: v0.1.1...v0.1.2

Coremium 0.1.1
- Automatic now shows what it chose, for example "Automatic · Coding", and explains standby.
- Clearer proof strip, plain-words decision log, indicators can be hidden from the notch, and Spotify (or any default-protected app) now obeys an explicit Eco/Yield choice.
- Lighter when idle (less often, measures only apps that could start a boost).
- Disk image added; install script available.
Ad-hoc signed and not notarized, so macOS asks once. Tested on macOS 27 / M3 Pro only.
Full Changelog: v0.1.0...v0.1.1
Coremium 0.1.0

- Install: open the disk image and drag Coremium to Applications, or run the install script from the README.
- Ad-hoc signed and not notarized, so macOS asks once (System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway).
- Tested on macOS 27 / M3 Pro only. Built for macOS 13+, Apple Silicon and Intel. Reports welcome.

Coremium for Windows 0.1.0 (beta)
Beta. First Windows version of Coremium: a desktop app for Windows 10 and 11 (x64), no notch.
- While a game, creative app, dev tool or local AI model is in front, background apps move into Windows efficiency mode (EcoQoS + low priority, like Task Manager's Efficiency mode). Nothing is closed.
- Modes (Automatic, Balanced, Gaming, Creator, Coding, Local AI), per-app Boost / Normal / Yield / Eco, plain-words decisions, Advanced numbers, Pause, tray icon, start with Windows.
- Only your own apps, no admin, no network.
Coremium.exe --restore-allputs everything back.
Built and unit-tested, but not yet tested by hand on a Windows PC. Not code-signed: SmartScreen asks once (More info > Run anyway). Please report issues.
