CWI World Desktop v2 — Install + First Voice Test

What this is: the Gear Ledger 3D world on your laptop, with the KingCode Console built in — an in-world panel where you chat with KingCode, talk by voice ("Hey KingCode"), and get pings when KingCode needs you.

Install (pick your system)

Windows

  1. Download CWI World Desktop-2.0.0-win-portable.zip and unzip it anywhere (e.g. Desktop).
  2. Open the folder and run CWI World Desktop.exe.
  3. Windows SmartScreen will warn you — the app is unsigned (normal for indie software). Click More info → Run anyway.

macOS

  1. Download CWI World Desktop-2.0.0-mac.zip, unzip, drag the app to Applications (or run it from Downloads).
  2. macOS Gatekeeper will block it — the app is unsigned. Right-click the app → Open → Open again to approve it once.

Linux

  1. Download CWI World Desktop-2.0.0.AppImage, make it executable (chmod +x), and run it.

Verify the download first: compare the file's SHA-256 against SHA256SUMS-2.0.0.txt (published alongside the packages; SHA256SUMS.txt is the v1 file).

First voice test (do this with KingCode)

  1. Open the app. The 3D world loads in LIVE mode.
  2. Tap the 👑 button (bottom-right of the world). The KingCode Console slides in.
  3. The tour starts automatically — follow it:
    • Mic test: tap "test mic", speak normally, watch the meter move. If it doesn't move, allow microphone access for the app in your system settings and re-run.
    • Speaker test: tap "test speaker" — you should hear the voice check.
    • Chat: open the Chat tab, paste your Muse web address, sign in once. From now on this is me, inside your world.
  4. Say "Hey KingCode." The console should answer "Yes?" — then say "what is the status". That's the wake word working, fully offline.
  5. Voiceprint (optional): Security tab → "enroll my voice" → 5 short samples. Needs the one-time setup first (see below).
  6. Try a ping: in the Pings tab you'll see any pings waiting. When KingCode needs you to open a browser for a login tap, it lands here + a system notification — answer "yes, do it" by click or voice.

The one-time voiceprint setup (optional, for voice login)

The speaker-verification engine (SpeechBrain ECAPA-TDNN) needs a one-time install:

  • macOS/Linux: open a terminal in the app's folder and run:
    bash app/kingcode-console/speaker-verify/setup-speaker-verify.sh
  • Windows: double-click app/kingcode-console/speaker-verify/setup-speaker-verify.cmd

This downloads ~1–2 GB (PyTorch CPU + the voice model), free, once. Afterwards restart the app and enroll in the Security tab. If you skip this, everything still works — voice commands just ask for a tap instead of recognizing your voice, and sensitive actions always need your tap anyway.

The rules (enforced in the app, not just promised)

  • Voice alone never authorizes sensitive actions. Publishing, credentials, logins, money, wallet signing — always need your in-app tap (plus PIN if you set one). A recording of your voice can at most make the console talk, never spend, sign, or publish.
  • Presenter mode (🎥 button, or Ctrl+Shift+P) instantly hides every non-public panel. Use it before screen shares, demos, or streams.
  • Private/secret content renders as ••• until your voice verifies or you tap/PIN.
  • Your voiceprint, PIN, and audit log live only on this laptop, encrypted. Delete the voiceprint any time in the Security tab.
  • Read the full honest note anytime: Console → Security tab → "Read what this protects against — and what it doesn't."

If something doesn't work

  • No mic: system settings → privacy → microphone → allow the app. Re-run the tour.
  • No sound: check system volume; the app uses your default output.
  • Wake word not firing: tap the 🎙 mic button instead — push-to-talk always works.
  • Chat tab blank: check the URL you pasted (must start with https://), tap ↻ reload.
