Release Notes - Version 2.1
This release includes significant improvements to the installation process and addresses several issues.
Fixes:
- Docker Compose Command: Updated
install.shto usedocker compose(the newer Docker CLI command) instead ofdocker-compose. This resolves issues withdocker-compose: command not founderrors. - Docker Network: Modified
docker-compose.ymlto explicitly setnetwork_mode: bridgefor theappservice. This ensures that containers join the default bridge network, preventing the creation of separate, isolated networks. - Hardcoded Credentials: Replaced hardcoded database credentials and names in
docker-compose.ymlandtimeclock-schema.sqlwith placeholders. These placeholders are now dynamically replaced by theinstall.shscript during installation, allowing for flexible and custom deployments. - Exposed Port: Commented out the exposed port in
docker-compose.ymlas all communication is intended to be internal, enhancing security.
Improvements:
- Automated Installation Script (
install.sh):- Streamlined the deployment process by automating repository cloning.
- Prompts for a company name, which is then used to dynamically name the Docker container and the database.
- Prompts for database credentials (host, user, and password) during installation.
- Offers clear options to create the Docker container and the database, giving users more control.
- Includes robust checks for Docker installation and running status, providing early feedback on potential issues.
- Flexible Naming: The installation process now allows users to define custom names for their Docker container and database based on their company name, making deployments more organized and tailored.
- Updated Documentation: The
README.mdfile has been comprehensively updated. It now includes detailed installation instructions, prerequisites, usage guidelines, and troubleshooting tips, all reflecting the new automated process and the changes made to the configuration files.
