Metro 2033 Redux VR v0.1.0 Test 1

Caution

Superseded by v0.1.0-test.2. This build accidentally enabled 3Dmigoto developer logging and shader hunting and targeted a stale game-folder user.cfg. Do not use it for compatibility or performance testing.

Warning

This is an experimental, unfinished test build. Expect performance and compatibility issues. Back up anything important and use the included uninstaller.

Requirements

• Metro 2033 Redux x64 for Windows
• Only works with the Steam version
• Game quality setting must be on Medium
• Tessellation must be on Very High
• Verified game version 1.0.0.3, SHA-256: 183EF65212E351C55A2832C3F3C8B04616B153697913D33B1E27683163F14E15
• SteamVR/OpenVR configured before launching Metro
• A tracked headset and two motion controllers

Steam and Epic installations can be discovered automatically, but only the executable hash above is verified. NVIDIA is the most-tested GPU path; AMD remains unverified. OpenXR is experimental and is not the supported runtime.

Installation

1. Download and extract the entire ZIP to a normal folder. Do not run it from inside the ZIP.
2. Close Metro 2033 Redux.
3. Double-click Install.cmd.
4. Start SteamVR, then launch Metro normally through your game launcher.

The installer verifies the payload, backs up replaced files, records hashes for safe uninstall, and sets Metro's master quality to the validated Medium preset. Use Uninstall.cmd from the extracted package to remove it.

VR Controls

• Open the VR Menu by holding both L3 and R3.
• Holding right menu button recenters and recalibrates the left hand as well as the right hand/gun.
• Holding left trigger open the equipment menu, right analog stick functions as the Dpad while that is open.
• Holding left trigger also makes L3 open the journal and R3 open the pause menu
• Holding up on the right thumbstick brings out the lighter.
• Holding down on the right thumbstick uses a med kit.

VR Gestures

(Warning these may bot work 100% because I never finished polishing them)

• Turn on flashlight by pressing left grip near left side of head.
• Bring out the gas mask by bringing left controller to left side of waist and holding left grip, bring the controller to your face while holding down left grip.
• Replace filter by bringing your left controller to your chest and pressing left grip, while holding left grip bring your controller to your mouth and do a twisting motion. It should reset your filter time.
• To bring out the charger, bring your left controller to your waist and press left grip. While holding left grip, just pull away from you and the charger should come out.
• Reduce recoil by bringing the gun up to your eye.
• Use the 2 time and 4 time scope by bringing the gun up to your eye.

• VR hands, weapons, equipment, journal, watch, lighter, charger, scopes, reticle, and HUD treatment
• VR main menu and in-headset configuration
• runtime-shaped eye output and compatibility-oriented frame pacing
• restart-latched Expanded Visibility option

Known limitations

• Stereo rendering is performance-heavy; true single-pass stereo is unfinished.
• Some hardware combinations have reported background flicker, menu double vision, or unusually low performance.
• One sewer water effect can disappear near the lower edge of the view.
• The shooting range has a localized aim/projectile disagreement not seen in normal gameplay testing.
• Other storefront executable builds require separate validation.
