Shows multiple user views
Demonstrate multiple user views:
HOST:USER:UUT # one host, multiple user views, multiple UUT's.
Screen-Shot shows 4 cs-studio workspaces, with MACRO configs:
HOST=hoy6 USER=pgm UUT=acq1102_015
HOST=hoy6 USER=pgm UUT=acq1102_010
HOST=hoy6 USER=tom UUT=acq1102_015
HOST=hoy6 USER=tom UUT=acq1102_010
As it happens, each of acq1102_015 and acq1102_010 have identical data (this is unlikely in practise, but handy for demo).
When USER=pgm browses using PAN/ZOOM controls hoy6:pgm:PAN*, then all VIEWS belonging to pgm update, while tom remains fixed, and vice-versa.
=> Two or more users can browse the same data sets without interfering with each other.
Tom would quickly get annoyed with pgm if pgm shifted his position unannounced.
=> This is EPICS, so one user display can be shared, so for example user tom may keep copy of pgm's view so that they can collaborate ("hey look what I got").
=> As a courtesy to the other user, a user should not change the other's view unsolicited, this could be enforced by some software policy, but scarcely seems necessary.
Currently, each user has access to the gloabal HOST:RUNSTOP control; that could change in future
Example data
pgm@hoy6:~$ ls -l hoy6:* | awk '{ print $9" "$10" "$11" "$12" "$5 }'
hoy6:pgm:acq1102_015 1380974592
hoy6:pgm:acq1102_010 -> hoy6:pgm:acq1102_015 20
hoy6:tom:acq1102_010 -> hoy6:pgm:acq1102_010 20
hoy6:tom:acq1102_015 -> hoy6:pgm:acq1102_015 20
