First public release of Sentrychan — a Windows desktop app that manages an anime, manga and novel library end to end: it watches RSS feeds for the series you follow, downloads new releases, renames and files them into Show / Season folders your media server already understands, and gives you a reader for everything that isn't video.

Install

Download Sentrychan-win-Setup.exe below and run it. No account, no .NET to install — everything is bundled, and the app updates itself from then on. Prefer no installer? Use Sentrychan-win-Portable.zip.

Sentrychan isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may show a blue "Windows protected your PC" screen on first launch. Click More info → Run anyway.

What's in it

  • Auto-download new episodes, named and filed for Plex or Jellyfin, with release-group preferences
  • Built-in torrent engine (pause, resume, speed limits, queue) or drive your own qBittorrent
  • In-app manga and novel reader — paged or webtoon, online or offline, plus local folders you already have
  • Background monitor with Windows notifications
  • Seasonal browser, anime news, and a live feed of new releases
  • Anime opening quiz and OP Battle Royale
  • MyAnimeList import, gap filling, and an unmatched-file resolver
  • Four themes, sidebar or top-bar layout, custom background

About online sources

This build ships with no online sources. Out of the box Sentrychan is a library manager, downloader and reader; it bundles no scraper for any manga or anime site and is not affiliated with any of them. Online sources come from source packs — third-party plug-ins you import yourself from Settings → Library. They load on the next restart.

Everything else works without them: your existing files, your own folders of chapter images, RSS feeds you add, MyAnimeList import, the reader and the quiz.

Notes

  • Watch parties and cloud sync are not in this release. They need a hosted backend and are still being built.
