Banjo Sound Lab v1.0.0

The first public release of Banjo Sound Lab — a portable Windows application for exploring, searching, previewing and rendering audio from a user-supplied Banjo-Kazooie ROM.

Features

  • Extracts all 734 sounds from the ROM
  • Searchable sound library
  • Preview and play individual sounds
  • Render complete music tracks
  • Corrected sample-loop handling
  • Cleaner playback with short attack and release ramps
  • Catmull-Rom interpolation for improved audio quality
  • Portable operation with no installation required
  • Single Windows executable
  • No Python installation required

Getting started

  1. Download Banjo Sound Lab.exe below.
  2. Place it inside its own writable folder.
  3. Double-click the executable.
  4. Select your own legally obtained Banjo-Kazooie ROM when prompted.
  5. Wait while the sound library is extracted.

Keep the ROM in its original location because music is rendered from it on demand. The extracted library is normally stored beside the executable. If that location is not writable, the application uses %LOCALAPPDATA%\BanjoSoundLab.

Windows SmartScreen

Because the executable is not code-signed, Windows may display an Unknown publisher or Windows protected your PC warning.

Select More info → Run anyway if you downloaded the file from this official repository.
