We are thrilled to announce the second official release of Snipe, version 1.1.0! This release introduces a brand-new graphical user interface (GUI), making task management more intuitive and visually engaging, alongside several new features and improvements.

New Features

  • Graphical User Interface (GUI): Snipe now includes a GUI, providing an improved user experience with an easy-to-navigate interface, enhancing the overall usability of the app.
  • Find Command (find _keyword_): Quickly search for tasks containing the specified keyword to streamline task management.
  • Help Command (help): Added more detailed command instructions directly accessible from the app.
  • Archive Commands:
    • archive n: Archives the task at position n, removing it from the active list but retaining it for reference.
    • archives: Displays a list of all archived tasks.

Improvements

  • Command Parsing: Improved parsing logic for more robust input handling, reducing errors when adding tasks.
  • User Feedback: Enhanced output messages to provide more clarity and context, especially when marking, unmarking, or deleting tasks.

Commands Overview

  • list: Displays your current list of tasks.
  • mark n: Marks the task at position n as done.
  • unmark n: Unmarks the task at position n.
  • todo task_name: Adds a ToDo task.
  • deadline task_name /by due_date: Adds a task with a specified deadline.
  • event task_name /from start_date /to end_date: Adds an event task with start and end dates.
  • delete n: Deletes the task at position n.
  • find _keyword_: Searches for tasks containing the keyword.
  • archive n: Archives the task at position n, removing it from the active list but retaining it for reference.
  • archives: Displays a list of all archived tasks.
  • help: Shows a list of useful commands with descriptions.
  • bye: Closes the application.

Getting Started

  1. Copy the updated Snipe.jar file into an empty folder.
  2. Open a command window in that folder.
  3. Run the command: java -jar Snipe.jar.
