✨ What's new
- 🗂️ Choose the MSI installation folder, with an editable path and a native Windows Browse… folder picker
- 🖥️ Choose desktop and Start menu shortcuts independently; Start menu is on by default, desktop is off
- 🔁 Keep installation choices through MSI repair and upgrades
- 🧰 A small native dependency window opens official runtime downloads, checks again after installation, and launches PyDeck when ready
- 📦 A standalone checker provides prerequisite status and official download links before MSIX installation; it never launches PyDeck and needs no .NET or Windows App Runtime
- 🐍 Open the official Python Install Manager download page from the app, install the manager yourself, then reconnect without restarting
- 🌏 English remains the default, with Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese (Taiwan), and Japanese in the app and dependency helper

🪟 Windows 11 x64 · .NET Runtime 10 x64 · Windows App Runtime 2.5.1 x64 or a compatible newer 2.x · VC++ v14 x64 for the unpackaged / MSI app. Runtimes remain separate downloads. The helper opens official sources; it does not silently install dependencies or alter certificate trust.
🔏 MSIX requires explicitly trusting the supplied public preview certificate. Read INSTALL.md and compare SHA256SUMS.txt before installing. MSI and MSIX are separate installation channels; uninstall the previous format before switching.
🧪 Validation
Core regressions and native dependency checks pass. Installer checks cover custom Unicode / spaced paths, all four shortcut combinations, repair, upgrade retention, and preservation of unrelated files during uninstall. The folder picker has been exercised for selection, cancellation, path synchronization, and Next / Back navigation. Final package validation includes installed-MSI GUI smoke checks and MSIX development registration / activation.
🚧 Development registration does not validate the MSIX production certificate-trust installation path. Clean-machine deployment, external accessibility checks, all DPI settings, and full Python runtime lifecycle acceptance remain follow-up work.
