Alternatives to SimpleDNSCrypt?

For a Windows GUI, the docs here link to SimpleDNSCrypt, which hasn't been updated in over 3 years. Is there any actively maintained GUI frontend for DNSCrypt on Windows?

One currently active option to evaluate is neohiro/dnscrypt-proxy-gui. It has a Windows x64 release, v1.2.1, published August 25, 2026, and repository activity this month.

Its README describes resolver selection, configuration editing, and starting/stopping the proxy. The packaged GUI does not eliminate the backend installation step: download the official dnscrypt-proxy.exe separately and put it beside the GUI executable, as the setup instructions describe.

I haven't tested it on your Windows setup, so this is a maintained candidate rather than a claim of feature parity with SimpleDNSCrypt. Note especially that activating it generates a configuration and changes the adapter's DNS settings; retain your existing configuration if migrating an established setup.
