Where did the queries go?

I've changed the lb_strategy to p7 and enabled doh and dnscrypt.

I was looking at how the p7 is going (and suddenly all the Total column history went away)

Running in podman (2.1.18), no cache; didn't reload

Nothing was lost: the Total column in the resolvers table isn't a history. It's the per-server counter dnscrypt-proxy uses to score servers (server.totalQueries in serversInfo.go), and it gets reset on purpose:

• On every server refresh: every cert_refresh_delay minutes (240 by default), each server is fetched again and replaced by a new entry (refreshServer), so its counters start from 0. With no reload on your side, that's the most likely moment your column emptied.
• When a server gets "a new chance": a server more than 4× slower than the best one, and unused for over a minute, gets its RTT lowered and its counters zeroed, so the load balancer gives it another try.
• Above 10,000 queries, both counters are halved, so the success rate tracks recent behaviour.

So that column shows recent activity for scoring, which is also why a server can show a low total right after being used a lot. p7 and enabling DoH + DNSCrypt don't change this. The global counters at the top of the page (total queries, cache hits/misses, blocked) are kept separately and only reset when the proxy restarts.

If you want real per-server history, enable the query log ([query_log], which includes the server name), or turn on prometheus_enabled in [monitoring_ui] and let Prometheus keep the history.
